Until the Steelers actually beat the Pats, Mitchell really needs to shut up and let his play do the talking.

Not sure why he's talking about the Patriots, when they first have a game vs. Jax. Especially since Fournette owned him last game.

So many players in the NFL (not just here) need to learn how to keep their traps shut.

Also, as another poster pointed out- we’re playing the Jags this week. One of the reasons I like playing the Jags this week is that I expect the team’s focus to be 100% on the task at hand because of the stench of the game earlier this year. Sounds like Mitchell put that game behind him a week early.

Um Mike.....don't worry about the Patriots. Worry about the Jags!! This team is more than capable ( D) of shutting down the offense and winning....

I think Mitchell need to shut his mouth. Last time I checked, Jax ran his ass over in Week 5. He needs to focus on this Sunday.

yeah talking about a future opponent that may or may not be there(lets be real they will be lol) before you have even advanced is just silly.

But yes NFL wants a NE PIT rematch, not a titans jax championship lmao

Hey, Mikey. Until we actually beat the Patriots, you need to shut up, play ball and keep this in mind!

Of all the stupid things to say coming from the weakest link. If/when we face the cheats you don't think for a minute that Brady won't remember this junk. Like Jack said until we beat the cheats STFU

I hate it. The Pats would never be so stupid to say something like this when there is another game to play beforehand. That is why they are the Pats and we have Mike Mitchell - and a coach who fails to control this crap, obviously - and always lose to them. Who was that other sh---y safety who ran his mouth before a Pats' game? What happened in that game? This is beyond moronic. Tomlin does not know how to manage this team or they wouldn't say stupid s---t like this.

Anthony Smith in '07. Brady and Moss owned him in that game.

He’s gonna look like an even bigger doofus if he’s a big part of a Steeler loss to the jagoffs on Sunday. How hard is it to say nothing at all? Good grief.

I know it's a radical idea, but if people read the statement in context - just like the Anthony Smith comment - it gives a slightly different angle.

    https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/01/09/pittsburgh-steelers-defense-2018-playoffs-ryan-shazier

He's still saying he's going to beat the Patriots, but it's in the context of him saying that they will play the season for Shazier, and they will win the Superbowl because of that. He's also clearly just spent a long time talking about what Shazier means to him, and the quote comes at the end of that - it's not in terms of a detailed diagnostics of their preparation for the Jags or anything like that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as big a critic of Mitchell as anyone. And he does like to run his mouth (I believe he first said we'd win the superbowl in week 11). And in the long run, it's an odd thing to say given that we do have a game to get through. But there is a context.

I hate Mitchell, I hope his butt is on the Cargo Plane full of rubber dog $hit back to hong kong this off season.

Most out of position safety I have ever seen, and this has gone on for several seasons.

Brags and makes a big deal when he tackles a guy 12-15 yards down field
That makes me more angry than anything.

Ryan Clark must have been dealing with the sickle-cell disease/symptoms that year, for Smith to be starting. I can't remember.
