Lower sack production from OLB I understand, but Dupree has zero production from all aspects. Zero. He's rarely even involved in a play. He should be the happiest guy on the team that Harrison was cut, because it should have been Dupree.

Harrison didn't play more because he can't drop into coverage.

A starting OLB against the Browns with a D+ QB got a whopping 0 tackles, 0 Sacks, 0 everything. You saw what TJ Watt was doing. It was like a guy playing Varsity football in a JV game. That is how dominance is suppose to look. When you are clearly better then the next guy, you are overwhelmingly involved and all I saw on the defensive side on Sunday was TJ Watt making some kind of play almost every other play. Durpee is a bust. It sucks but he doesnt have it. Just the reality of it. You wanna say he is in coverage more often than not, fine, but when he is rushing the QB i lose my sight on whether its Javis Jones or Bud Dupree rushing the QB, there is no talent in getting around the tackle with him.

The bottom line is Dupree is below the line....JV as Tomlin would say. His pass rush is silent but what's the most disturbing is he's not putting his nose in the pile. If he doesn't make a play in space,he isn't throwing his body around. Either he or Tuitt or probably both really need to elevate their games if we are gonna go anywhere.

Maybe Bud and Mike should swap positions ? Bud can't get to the QB and Mike can't get to the WR . Maybe it's some sort of Mental block. I can hear the Coach now,'Bud get your butt back there at the FS spot you can't get to the QB for crap' Mike get up here on the line, maybe you can make a play before the QB throws it ? Lord knows after he let's it go I start praying for an act of God to break up the play .

    Sacks:

    Heyward 12
    Williams 8
    Watt 7
    Bud 6

Lets not act like Bud is not contributing at all.

Far more disappointing is Tuiit with 3 sacks and Im a huge Tuitt fan. I dont think he is over the bicep injury yet. He also has about 200 less snaps then the other guys.

I wonder if Tuitt is 100% because IMHO Tuitt is every bit as good as Heyward.

You don't think there are downs that are obvious passing downs where JH would have been more effective than anyone else we have at rushing the passer? I do.

I'm not buying the BS about our OLBs are used differently than they used to be. That is just subterfuge to conceal the fact that our OLBs are not the level of our past players. This is a team who tried to sell that Jarvis Jones was "playing solid" when he was a turd out there. JJ's play was so solid that he isn't even on an NFL roster anymore even though he should be in his prime, age wise. BD doesn't have weak sack #'s because Heyward has 12. That is just made up. Heyward has 12 because he is good. BD has 6 because he isn't worthy of a 1st round pick, just like Jones wasn't. 6 is not good enough for the prime OLB in the Steeler D. TJ did fine as a rookie. BD is below the line, even though the team won't admit it.

If you look back at the sack stats per season, you’ll see that out OLBs were getting 5-7 sacks a season fairly regularly since 2010 at least.

Obviously there are some awesome seasons here and there, but Duprees sack numbers alone don’t tell a particularly anomalous story at this point.

Thats a load of nonsense. If you arent going to recognize that their LB's are used differently then you clearly just have an agenda, which is you dont like Bud. Which is also clear by dismissing his 6 sacks.

Pointless to carry on this conversation if you cant keep it real.

Probably not completely healthy. I believe he could be every bit as good as Heyward... He has all the tools to be and honestly could be better than Heyward. Injuries or possibly not 100% aside, Heyward has that heart and desire or whatever it is that can't be coached. Not saying Tuitt does not, cause I think he's special as well. some folks just have that extra something even if it's a little more extra than someone else's extra something... Hahahaha

To me it's not about the sacks. You can say 6 isn't much but you can also say it's about what you can expect from the slight change in philosophy. What's disappointing to me is he looks terrible in his pass rush and most of those sacks did come from coverage. What also is alarming is his tackle numbers are also poor and I just don't see any fire.....look at TJ he is always flying around and sticking his nose in the fracas. When you watch Dupree you don't see that and he's the one who has been here long enough to where he shouldn't have to think as much and should be flying to the ball......I don't see it. Hopefully he steps it up big time in the playoffs, between him and Tuitt we need someone to dominate that side of the field.

Of all the disappointing players so far this year....we all know the names, those two guys IMO hold the key to how far we can go. They need to shut down the run and get way more pressure when given the opportunity.
