I watched some of the game and the jets had a drive when he was in there and definitly took advantage of him. Set the edge? I see at least 2 runs to the outside on that drive alone

They were forced into being one dimensional from the beginning of the game?

Exactly 0 of those runs were to his side.

He was not taken advantage of in coverage either, in fact, he did well in coverage.

    Also, there is this:

Actually they were more stupid for not playing him more, at least enough to keep him happy. Also he could of helped against the runs like, the Jags, Bears, Ravens, and even against the Pat's. I thought the Steelers were being hard headed about playing him. Granted his actions were not good, but it could of been prevented.

Exactly. A good coaching staff would have found a way to use him. He still has enough left to be productive for 3 more games.

I suppose having your 1st team defense looking horrible vs an 0-16 team at this time of year is more appealing than looking good against a 5-10 opponent.

Not talking about the team. We are talking about 1 39 year old linebacker who all of the sudden is lighting up the nfl

Sorry I disagree. While I believe JH still had something to offer for whatever reason the team wasn't playing him. Right or wrong he still had no cause to act the way he did. You want everyone pulling those stunts?

If we end up playing Pats, I envision some runs wide with Bell.

I will say that NE put him in mostly successfull pass defense situations.

They did not have him backpedaling from the LOS for the most-not a strength of his. The plays were in front of him so he coul
His first few plays dropping into pass coverage, he did not do well. One was completed as he was late getting to the flat. The other was the same but The QB made a horrible throw. Aside from those two, I thought he played solid.

I know this team set the franchise record for sacks, but the majority of sacks from Watt and Dupree are coverage sacks or chasing down a QB scrambling from the pocket. JH has a skill set neither of those guys have, which is traditional pressure off the edge.

Hmmmm. I am quite sure Hoodie can't believe the good fortune of this move. He must be LHAO at the Steelers.

It's not that simple: Part of managing successfully is knowing how to deal with each player. We all know that players who seem to have behavior problems get to NE and are all of a sudden model players. Some how, their coaching staff will have JH - and players like Randy Moss and Corey Dillon - get along with everyone just fine. Once you start lying to players, you open the door to things like this situation. The team lied, so JH threw a fit. They should have never F'd with James.

Yep. Some long ones if james is in. Look i aint picking on him. Father time is undefeated. He can lift all the weights he wants. He is a beast. But he struggles in space cause he cant run or at least run with the speed needed to play in the nfl.

If he is in the game let him come up the field and run draws at him all day. Sure if u turn around, hand ball off and run right at him. He will hold up. But make him change direction or play in space. I am sorry, he cant anymore.

the fact is, he improves the Pats OLB depth.. regardless of how weak they were, or how over-the-hill Harrison is (exaggerated or not).. we made our most difficult possible playoff opponent stronger by cutting him. not to mention, any possible intel he may provide, minimal or not; we need literally every possible advantage we can get against those guys, and that certainly won't help. also, he's had success against Eric Fisher and the Chiefs, a team we might have to face in the playoffs.. or, possibly face the Chiefs as a Patriot. Chiefs knocking off the Patriots would benefit the Steelers, so that doesn't help... so, yeah.. i still have a problem with the cut. you're telling me this team couldn't suck it up and put up with whatever his antics were for a couple more weeks? we went 11-3 this season with him being a "distraction."

I think they rolled the dice and lost. Whether they were looking to re-sign him after that Monday game, or he would go unwanted, not sure they envisioned him as a Patriot.

Really? Resign him? Acting the way he acted i dont think that was ever an option.

I mean it dont even sound like his teammates wanted him.

The Steelers set a franchise record with 56 sacks this season, they don't need Harrison.

I dont know if people dont believe the reports or just dont think its a big deal.

Its a big deal, Id rather him not be around to distract during the playoffs, it was obviously getting worse. They kept him around as long as they could.

As far as getting him playing time, how much did it hurt them by his not playing???

The guy had 5 sacks last season playing a lot of snaps. How much damage was he going to do in a limited role?

    Get a grip people.

Harrisons performance in a new england game has nothing to do with the Steelers that is obvious

So what you are saying implies that the Steelers have the most inept coaching staff and/or management in the league, to not have seen that he would be signed elsewhere by a playoff-bound team. I have no doubt that they knew that he would sign with either the Pats, the Pats... or, yeah the Pats. No one else was going to sign him - and they were just fine with that.

"Rolling the dice", as you put it, would be sheer suicide at this time of year, and I don't believe for a second they blindly released JH.
