Oh please ...what does Deebo know or can share with NE that they don't already know. :roflmao: If the Steelers play NE and lose, Deboo won't even be part of the equation but rather the Steelers defense.. over pursuers and pot holes in the secondary.

It's like a car accident, I don't want to look but I can't look away. The one with Bellichick is just a gut punch.

I already explained how it was different. Blount actually played a significant role for the Steelers that year before he was cut. He was cut loose for disciplinary reasons only and it was a huge mistake. He was over a decade younger than Harrison is now. He clearly still had the ability to play. It was also easy to see that Belichik manipulated that situation, in part because Blount had played for the Patriots the previous season.

Harrison didn't have a significant role with the Steelers. He is well past his prime, not good enough to make it onto the field even with the team's defensive struggles. He was cut because they needed a roster spot. If you really think he was cut for saying he was unhappy about not playing, you're kidding yourself. Harrison's only history with the Patriots is calling them cheats for over a decade.

You want it to be the same because you want the reason to whine, but the situations are vastly different.

Patriots sign James Harrison off waivers, let's not pretend this isn't about anything but gaining an edge on the Steelers defense.

Yes, the Patriots need help with the pass rush but Harrison will give them the inside information on the one unit they aren't as well matched up on.

I also know they have our number but this is Belichick doing this for 3 main reasons in this order:

    1. Get intel on Steelers defense
    2. Improve the Pats pass rush
    3. Playing mind games with the Steelers

Maybe Tomlin was sick of the weight room being a mess so he decided to make an example of somebody?

If that would work, why wouldn’t the Steelers sign the linebacker they cut to make room for James? The Patriots cut Kony Ealy this season after signing him during free agency. The Jets picked him up, however, it didn’t work too well for them. The truth is, all of the teams you play have video information on your team. The Patriots not only have video, they have the defensive calls and signals that they can match up against the video they review. We would have to make wholesale changes whether James went there or not.

The article doesn't offer any source regarding other options, so I'm guessing the source was either Harrison or his agent.

Dude... Ridley last played for the Patriots in 2014 and played as a back up Rb with 94 carries. You've got to be kidding. Harrison was just in our locker room working on a game plan for the Patriots a week or two ago.

You honestly don't see that just handing over Harrison at this point of the season to the Patriots was a mistake? You really want to just sugar coat a clearly bone headed move and pretend it's meaningless? I get why the steelers (Players and coaches) are saying it doesn't matter, don't get why anyone else would pretend it's not a ridiculous move. I get that many fans are going to be supportive no matter what, but what's the point of pretending and not calling a spade a spade. Even the people in the media close to the organization are asking what the hell were they thinking? Ben him self said he was shocked...then said no big deal but come on, you know he was not happy about that move.

I suspect this was an emotional reaction by Tomlin for something Harrison said or did. We probably will not know until after the season but something happened. This is not the time to make an emotional knee jerk reaction that could potentially hurt our chances. It would have been better to deactivate him every game or suspend him if he's being a problem. Cutting him with 2 games left in the season, when your #1 obstacle is in bad need of a pass rushing LB, is just moronic. Not only did we just help them with their pass rush and run defense...we just gave them our playbook, audibles, and a player highly motivated to kill our QB. His knowledge of our team isn't going to seal the deal but it doesn't help our cause. Sure we can change our plays , change our audibles, show some different formations etc... but now we are spending time trying to do that instead of sharpening our swords. Bellicheat wins either way we respond.... are we gonna stick to the game plan and ignore the fact that they now have an edge? OR do we change our focus to disguising what we worked on all season? You really think having Harrison across from AV on 3rd and long looking to rip Ben's head off doesn't make them better?

sometimes it's ok to say... WTF that was a bone head mistake. We shall see how this plays out. Sure there's a good chance it will not affect us in anyway. There's also a very real possibility that we just helped them win another SB.

Or perhaps it is your emotions getting in the way of your judgement, not the loyalty of others getting in the way of theirs. I've got no problem criticizing moves the Steelers make. I just think the whining about this one is out of control.

I will revise my view if Pouncey is correct. I saw an interview in which he claims the team wanted to keep Harrison, but Harrison forced his way out. If that is how it went, it's nearly as dumb as the Blount move. Harrison's wishes should not have been a factor when they decided who to cut to make room for Gilbert's return.

I think maybe you need to re watch the Patriots game. Maybe watch the patriots last 3 games. Then tell me if you still think Harrison will not make them a better team. Having Harrison lined up against our OT's on certain plays is most definitely an improvement vs what they have had. Besides the fact that it's going to be a BIG distraction if we end up playing the Pats in NE. Not sure how you target a single OLB...doing that will make it easier for someone else on their defense.

If knowing our playbook and formations wasn't an advantage to the Patriots then explain to me why they cheated like they did all those years to obtain that exact information. Apparently you are smarter then Bellicheat cause he seems to think signing Harrison will help him. There are plenty of people close to the team that have expressed their shock that Tomlin would make such a stupid move this late in the season, especially after letting Harrison rot on our bench for most of the season. We now have a very pissed off , fresh, motivated Harrison lined up across from us instead of the crap they had last time we played. I'm willing to bet Villanueva and Gilbert were not happy about what has transpired.

Also I'm not sure you get how some audibles work. Have you played before? Maybe things have changed but when I was a kid and played football any given play can have a plan B for the Line, the WR's, and the RB. The QB can have a code word for that alternative play, it doesn't matter what name they give it as long as the offense knows the "key" word. Harrison is going to have a better understanding to what our options are based on the formation we show and based on the formation the patriots show. Knowing the key word isn't really such a big deal if you just know how we react to certain looks. For example if the Safety is up in the box or they show man coverage or what ever... Harrison knows how Ben will respond to those situations. He will also have an understanding of how Ben calls out our blocking assignments. So either we spend lots of time disguising everything during our bye week or we go into the game and hope that their knowledge of our playbook doesn't help. Either way it's a win/win for Bellicheat and he knows he got into our heads. "dilly dilly" probably meant nothing. Ben can yell anything he wants and most plays he's not actually saying anything.

. How big of an edge that knowledge gives is debatable. It's probably not a HUGE deal, but it also isn't nothing. I personally think the biggest reason we made a mistake is we just improved their pass rush and run stopping ability with a guy who's very motivated to beat us. I've watched Harrison's entire career. I know what he is now and I'm pretty sure Bellicheat also knows what he is now. He gives them much improved depth and an X factor that we don't know how it will play out. We can all agree we gave them a player with a very extensive understanding of our players and playbook. We'll find out soon enough what that means. My hope is Harrison gets injured before we play them.

Because the Steelers would have to cut somebody else to make room for that linebacker. And it would obviously be some lesser player that they could have just cut in the first place to make room for Gilbert instead of Harrison. Which would make Tomlin and company look even more foolish than they already do.

Unless Pouncey is right and they cut Harrison because Harrison wanted out, they only look foolish to overly-emotional fanboys.

For that matter I guess they could have signed the Patriots guy to our practice squad and squeeezed him.

Toussaint for one. And if BB or another team bit on that one I would be fine with it because it would have been a much less risky cut. And the Pats don't need any more running backs, they got too many as is.

The players are starting to talk about it now, sounds like he was a problem and they are not gonna miss him. Pouncey pretty much laid it out.
