You are right about Watt, Dupree & Chick however I will strongly disagree with Moats. I pointed out in another post that it is taking 3 guys to man one position(SS, Moats & Fort). JH wasn't given the chance to play to show if he was washed up but guess what....we are going to find out soon!!!!

As for McCullers pfft, he has played in 3 games.......3 GAMES! Hargrave played in thirty something % of the snaps, we have Heyward, Tuitt, and Walton who also plays the middle in the D that they run. McCullers was a very good choice to be let go, imo. I have a feeling as time goes on we are going to hear more and more about why JH was let go and IMO it has more to do with off the field than on......

No I promise you it’s the fact tha he can’t cover and Butler isn’t going to design a scheme for Harrison when he’s on the field. All those other guys play on specials also which Harrison doesn’t. I would agree with cutting Sensabaugh now that Haden it back but that’s it. From a personnel stand point OLB and CB are the only positions we truly have extra of. If AB wasn’t hurt you could throw WR in there but with him down you have to take that off the board.

And who exactly would jump after Big Dan? I can't imagine he'd be anything more than a blip on other team's radar. He'd be on the couch waiting in case of some eventual injury to Hargrave and the Steelers could re-sign. NTs don't seem to be in as high demand as OLBs imo. Steelers still have LT Walton and Alualu who can play DT in a pinch.

Dude again if you have read my billion posts on this:smiley1: I never said JH could cover. I am pretty sure every person who is pissed about JH know he can't cover. My issue is he IMO can still rush the passer and we will see soon enough, Bryce Petty will be pooping his pants this week.........

There is a chance we could end up playing KC in our first game, anyone remember how JH has played vs KC???????

One last thing about JH, to all the people that were saying well it's obvious JH is done 31 other teams think so. It isn't 31 other teams, the only teams that were gonna pick up a guy for one week are playoff teams, so we are talking 11-13 teams right now. Also found this:

Before the deal was finalized, Harrison was mulling other options around the league, including a return to the Steelers. Pittsburgh, though, realized Harrison could be scooped up by New England, Tennessee or Baltimore.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...son-signs-with-patriots/ar-BBHo7zE?li=BBnb7Kz

So there are more then just emotional poster on a message board that think JH has something left.

He can’t run fast enough to cover in the screen game. He’s strong and in shape but that won’t help with covering a RB it the flats. It wasn’t personal with James, it sounds like became very frustrated with his role and started to become a distraction to the team and coaches to the point of being unhealthy. We had to shift from the zone blitz which didn’t work.

Again i have said this many times, I don't think anyone is saying he can cover. What he can do is rush and seal the edge on the run. I agree there had to be something that was going on behind closed doors....

He has this DEEBO company which sells merchandise. In the bigger picture did he lose way more than 59k by going to the patriots?

I really do not care where he ends up or what he does in the NFL at this point. He can play for as long as he wants and for whomever he wants. The steelers cut him, so what do you expect if he wants to play and his only goal playing was to win a ring.

I for one will always remember him as a Steeler and one of our greats, but I will now never buy his jersey or any Deebo gear. I was debating on Harrison, Watt, Connor, or Villanueava this year. I went with Watt and am so thankful I did not buy a Harrison jersey. I wouldn't burn it or throw it away, but I'd probably never wear it again if the patriots end up winning it all and he's on the roster. If they end up losing I feel like we may have a different opinion of Harrison.

People don't seem to understand Tomlin's role in these matters. While Tomlin has input it doesn't happen without KC making the move and AR2 signing off on it. It's possible Tomlin pushed to keep Harrison, but was overruled by the other two. Of course it's easier to just use it as another reason to gripe about Tomlin.

5 sacks in 600 snaps last year. Yeah he had a great game literally a year ago. That is so long in the NFL for a guy his age. The only way he is getting sacks is if they are coverage sacks as he doesn’t have the speed nor the explosiveness anymore.

Did you not notice that the Ravens ran mostly to Dupree's side on those sweeps, not to Harrison side when he did play.

I was wondering about McCullers too, doesn't he still have practice squad eligibility?

Unless Deebo was truly becoming a locker room cancer, I would've cut Coty Sensabaugh or put McCullers on PS.

I'm not sure if this was posted elsewhere.

    Mike Tomlin -

“And it’s evolved within the last decade since I’ve been here. Outside linebacker was a rush-man’s position in the early part of my tenure. Guys like LaMarr Woodley and James Harrison were defensive-end-like. They rushed the vast majority of the time. With the evolution of spread football, read-option football, RPOs as the college guys call it – run-pass options – and all the empty backfield stuff, it has become a hybrid position, where they’re asked to do a lot of things: rush, drop in zone, play man-to-man. I just think it’s part of the evolution of football, and I think (outside linebackers) are the most significant components to the adjustments that defenses have made.”

We have 50 sacks as a team and he has one of them. I’m going to say we are doing just fine in that area.

Maybe Harrison can play Safety or TE?
Seriously though, you keep comparing him to guys that play a different position.
