Cmon, man. "Dolts" "clowns" and now "whack jobs"

Surely we're better than resorting to calling fellow Steelers fans names just because they don't share your opinions right?

This place is for discussion of topics like this after all.

This is why it was done.

And to Glenn, I agree the league isn't rigged for the Patriots. Deflategate shoots 10,000 holes in that theory.
The Pats do seem to get every single break from big ones like the Tuck rule, James catch, and the two Super Bowls won due to their opponents doing inexplicably stupid things when the game was won (imagine the gift wrapped Bungles playoff game happening twice during the Superbowl), to the little ones like winning a game by getting the exact same call the the Steelers didn't get with James.

I keep waiting for karma to take it's hold, but I've long since given up on that. Maybe Kraft and BB sold their souls to the devil and that's when payback will happen?

People mistake a couple bad rules combined with a lot of bad refs for a conspiracy. Some teams may get more than average amount of unfair calls against them, which is bad luck, not conspiracy.

    Oh, good God. How about...
    • It’s ENTERTAINING.
    • It may be predetermined, but *I* don’t know the outcome.
Movies are scripted, but people watch them anyway. Some people even watch movies more than once!

    It’s not a binary world.

What???? Don't mess with my head man!

Agree on deflategate putting any thoughts of a pro-Pats conspiracy to rest. The NFL knew that there was funny business going on in Pats Land, and even though they couldn't prove it they went wildly overboard to prosecute the case and punish the Pats to make sure the message was received loud and clear by the Pats, and any other potential cheaters, that the NFL would not - could not - under any circumstances allow the integrity of the game to be tarnished. The tin foil hatters will never understand and acknowledge this.

There is no conspiracy, but IMO there is mismanagement that leads to confusion and inconsistency.

According to some here you already do. At least when watching games against the pats. If y’all believe it’s rigged and continue to watch because it’s entertaining then why call for boycotts?

They need to go back to the drawing board and simplify. The play to JJ was so obviously a catch but they complicated it with stupid surviving the ground nonsense. The ground can't cause a fumble so it shouldnt determine a catch either if he clearly has control of it before hand.

Unless you are slow of mind and poor vision, JJ clearly did.

    Simplify.

This idea that the NFL is rigged by the NFL it self is IMO moronic. I would say the NFL is biased towards certain teams and certain players. That can be no more evident then how we saw Harrison treated during his prime. If you want to get more current look at this season... look how officials allow Ben to get hammered after releasing the ball...now compare that to Brady. During the Pats game vs Miami a defender reached in the air to knock down a pass... he missed the ball but when coming down his hand hit Brady's shoulder pads and neck area. They flagged him 15yards. I nearly spit my beer out laughing. Ben has never got that call in his entire career. Never. Take a look at the Gronk suspension vs the JuJu suspension. Can the biased be any more blatant then that? How about the suspension that was lifted from the Raven's safety... a repeat offender who clearly was intentionally trying to knock Brown out. Compare that to JuJu. This is biased that I don't understand... It could be an upper management relationship issue? Maybe it's the opposite of what we think? Maybe goodell is best buddies with the Roonies... maybe he's afraid of the appearance of bias so he's acting the opposite? Maybe it's the fact that our players were the ONLY players to vote against the CBA? Maybe it's because our players have probably fought Goodell's antics and policies more than any team? Maybe its' Ben's attitude? Maybe it's just Ben's size ? Maybe it's Kraft constantly harping about protecting his franchise QB...squeaky wheel gets the oil. I can totally see the NFL thinking a career injury to Brady is bad for the NFL... would be like the NBA protecting jordan.

The most likely scenario of corruption would not come from owners or Goodell. The most likely scenario IMO is officials taking bribes. This is not un heard of and IMO I'm shocked that it's a threat that doesn't seem to be taken too seriously by the league at all. The $ bet on games alone is enough reason to think a bookie, vegas house, online betting co, or just a rich guy who loves betting on football games would be willing and able to bribe an official. Every sport on earth has had this happen...why not the NFL? An owner could be bribing officials. A very rich fan could do it. There's a million reasons to why someone would want to do it...and the $ is everywhere. I'd seriously take a look at the official that screwed us and the Jets vs the Patriots. If I'm betting 100's of millions that the Pats will cover 2.5 points you don't think it would be worth offering an official a million $ in an off shore account to make a call if the opportunity arises? Would Kraft offer a bonus to officials to protect his franchise QB? It wouldn't shock me.

Hey, let's be clear that I don't believe the game is rigged. Even if I did, it's not like every player's footstep, every rotation of the ball being passed, or every breath of wind during a field goal is scripted. If -- IF -- anything was rigged, it wouldn't take more than a small handful of interventions to affect things. Which means the overwhelming majority of the game would be the competition you're looking for to define it as "sport".

I'm also fuzzy as to why there's so much personal energy bound up in this specific issue. By both sides. I think James is below the line, someone else thinks he's good. Do we really need to throw up 50+ posts of argument and call each other names?
