I know this don't mean squat now but here is RS contract status:

LB Ryan Shazier signed a 4 year, $9,507,204 contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on June 6, 2014. Shazier received a signing bonus worth $5,234,328. The contract is fully guaranteed. The Steelers picked up the fifth year option on Shazier for 2018. The one year $8.718 million contract is guaranteed for injury and will become fully guaranteed on the first day of the 2018 league year.

If nothing else at least he never has to worry about money again. Of course that is assuming he doesn't act like a complete dumbass with his money.

Again not that this is important but the 8.7 mil don't become guaranteed until the first day of the next league year. Which I am sure the Steelers will make sure is taken care of......

Assuming the worst and Shazier's career is over I believe they will. They just have to put him on ir until the new league year starts. They can probably write it off as a loss on their taxes.

I am to lazy to look it up but I am wondering if there is an injury relief vs the cap.......I am with you as what the Steelers would do if that is the case.

They will probably IR him when a more progress diagnosis is made, since they signed him to a 5th year option he is covered salary wise for 2018 injured or not:

LB Ryan Shazier signed a 4 year, $9,507,204 contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on June 6, 2014. Shazier received a signing bonus worth $5,234,328. The contract is fully guaranteed. The team is rallying around him. Clearly, done for the season.
They made moves this week and could have used his spot on the 53, but didn't.
Why hasn't he landed on IR yet?
    I only see 3 possibilities:

    a) symbolism and respect
    b) they know something we all ingnore
    c) just a matter of time, paperwork and formalisms

    My guess is A

    What about
    d) JuJu is suspended, so they have 1 week to make said move. At the time of signing Spence, he hadn’t had surgery and they just didn’t know if he would be back for the playoffs. Now, we know he is out for year. So, once roster moves post Ravens’ game begin, we will know what they do. If Spence replacing him spot isn’t already the answer.

It's already fully guaranteed for injury. On the 1st day of the 2018 league year it becomes fully guaranteed if he is cut for any reason.

Yes, your point is a valid option, that I would consider inside option C) just a matter of time

It hasn't even been a week and with JuJu's suspension they were able to sign Spence without kicking anyone off the roster. My guess is they'll make a move this week.

According to Laconfora Shazier is expected to walk and live a normal life. Of course this is from his sources and probably not Shazier's doctors so take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah really all we know is what those reports the team sent out said.
Honestly I don't even know if they've confirmed he has regained movement ?

I hope it's true but nothing from Burt PR, Aditi, or his dad Vernon. I don't think Schefter would make it up or go behind their back to get a tweet. Maybe they gave him that update to post so they can focus on covering the game? Idk.
