Eli will not be our quarterback next season because Ben still will be.

If Ben retires Keenum would be a sweet option for a year or two and we can draft one early to sit a year or so and then take over after Keenum.

I live in New York. I've seen the play plenty of times. It was thrown up for grabs and Tyree made a great play.

Pouncey for Eli. Ben and Eli take turns playing center. And Pouncey can still retire when Ben does. Problem solved, thread over. :lolol:

Why would we replace one qb at the end of his career with another?

Having lived in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. when the Redskins won one of their Super Bowls, I'd have to disagree with you. Redskins fans are far worse.

Think he is getting run out of town.
However, there are gonna be a few good QBs becoming available; Eli ( prob Jax), Keenum or Bridgewater, probably Smith from KC, Cousins ( too much money), Luck or Brissett. A lot of attraction to come to Pittsburgh with Bell, Brown, good O line, young up and coming defense....

Because the team is built to win now, so the concern would be putting the best possible team on the field for the 2018 season with less concern regarding the long term.

If that’s the attitude than it makes far more sense to sign cousins. People don’t seem to grasp how fast an older players skills can deteriorate. Signing Manning is beyond foolish.

Calm down folks, Eli will be a giant next year and is under contract till 2019, I'm hearing the owners are livid over mcadoo benching him and over the way he has coached this team, latest word is mcadoo will be fired this week............

Cousins is going to cost a hell of a lot more than Manning. The Steelers probably aren't spending that kind of money even if Roethlisberger does resign.

A one-year deal for a competent veteran quarterback would make sense. You really should be banned from using the phrase "beyond foolish" after that post.

We have a young offense and defense. A one year contract on a veteran qb is foolish. If Eli was a free agent after this year(he isn't) he wouldn't exactly be cheap. He's a professional athlete. He's not going to say I've made enough money I'm going to play for you for peanuts.Couple that with the fact that he's at the end of his career makes it an even worse idea. It makes far more sense to sign a qb with an upward trajectory than a stop gap. I don't care how you slice it the suggestion is ridiculous.

The ridiculous suggestion is Cousins. The Steelers aren't going to overpay for Cousins, and some team is going to have to overpay to get him. That just isn't what the Steelers do. Maybe they can get Alex Smith at a reasonable price, but Manning as a stopgap makes a hell of a lot more sense than playing a rookie or hoping Jones or Dobbs can handle the job when the roster is built to contend right now.

Next time you should try understanding the situation and the posts to which you are responding before you post your reply.

Did I say anything about Landry Jones, Dobbs, or a rookie? No. You're right a stop gap that would cost us $20 million dollars a year is pure brilliance. Oh wait! If we were trying to bridge the gap between Ben and his successor than it might make sense. However, we don't have his successor. Cousins is a very good franchise qb in his prime. It makes more sense to sign him than a stopgap. At a minimum Cousins would be here for 5 years with all of the young talent that we have. Pretty sure I understand the situatation perfectly pal.
