Eli Apple

I've heard that he's in the dog house in NYG. I was really hoping we draft him last year. Would Artie Burns for Eli Apple be a good trade during the off season? Maybe we can get him with something less, like a 4th round pick. Apple is a bigger DB than Burns.

 

I'm focused on this season.

 

Apple isn’t the problem in the big apple. The NYGs have far bigger issues. He will be a big part of their plans for next year and isn’t going anywhere. IMHO

The rest of the roster sans guys like Landon Collins and Evan Engram? We will have to wait and see.

 

Getting rid of Artie Burns after he had a solid rookie season and somewhat of a sophomore slump season is a complete knee jerk reaction.

 

Who isnt safe in NY is their coach Mcadoo, I expect him to be fired this week as mad as the owners are at him....

 

Really, we are giving up on Artie this quickly? I thought it would atleast take another year before I heard this stuff. Artie had a great rookie season and now is being asked to do more. He will find his footing, I'd rather it be with us then someone else!

 

Artie will be fine, I still think WJIII is better though, that guy is a stud but bagels too stupid to use him lol

 

I have a feeling Artie is going to come up with a big play soon at a critical moment. Like a Ryan Shazier moment.

Burns needs to work on his craft when the season ends. I hope we bring someone in to compete with Burns and motivate him. I'm not saying we should replace him at all. just saying our depth isn't the best. Gay's career in Pittsburgh could be over. If Burns is just having a sophomore slump then he'll rebound with hard work. A good safety would also help Burns IMO. Every game I still see safety as being our biggest need. I can't imagine there are many teams with a worse safety duo then we have. It all puts Troy's talents in perspective. I guess I didn't always realize just how amazing that guy was...even at the end of his career he was light years better than Mitchel and Davis.

 

The odd thing is, before the season Bob Labriola was singing Burns’ praises as the most improved guy on the roster. I think a huge part of his drop off is over-committing and guessing wrong. Maybe overthinking his own progress in a sense.

In terms of the OP - agree with Jim. Let this guy develop some more.
