I know this sounds ridiculous but If Ben retires we could sign Eli Manning he will be a quarterback with to Super Bowl victories with a high-powered offense and we will have a quarterback that can beat Tom Brady

Interesting idea, but I doubt Pittsburgh is a big enough market for Eli's ego. And who knows if Ben actually retires.

If Eli Manning is available and wants to come to Pittsburgh and we have to choose between LJ and Eli to be the starter (cannot get Cousins), I would reluctantly accept Eli as a one year stop gap measure. I think Eli has been a "poor man`s Roethlisberger" during his career and am not sure how bad his skill set has eroded since he is on a bad team. Obviously, a team can win a S.B. with Eli. He can be a good enough QB on a good team and look almost great on a great team. So, he would probably work out for us IMO.

Absolutely. I wouldn't LOVE to have Eli, but there would be very few quarterbacks that could better lead us if Ben was out. Plus, he'd have the best receiver, running back and a top core to work with. He'd be better than Landry Freaking Jones lol

Peyton probably punked him his whole childhood. I would love to see Eli get one more ring just to show to Peyton.

If it came down to signing Eli to play over Jones or Dobbs right now, I'd take Eli. Other than that, probably not.

Given those 2 choices of Eli or Jones I would take Dobbs lol.

But seriously, I get Eli has been on a bad team with a terrible line and no run game, but I don't know if it's that he trusts his WR too much or what but he has seemed like an int machine over his career. maybe from having to try to carry his team for so many years and having more passing attempts. IDK. he doesn't seem like a guy I would want, especially at the tail end of his career.

    BTW I looked it up.
    Eli - 222 INT over 212 games
    Ben - 172 INT over 196 games
    Rivers - 163 INT over 191 games
Brady - 155 INT over 248 games (scary good)

Eli in Jacksonville is a better fit for him. He will be a Jaguar next year.

    No thanks.

I’d rather take a chance on Dobbs and the draft.

Eli didn't contribute to beating the Pats nearly as much as his defense did.

    Two ways you beat them...
    1) Stifling defense
    or
    2) Outscore them in a shootout

Atlanta found out that you can't beat them on mistakes and an opportunistic defense. You have to be able to match up against them and disrupt Brady for 60 minutes. Or you have to score for 60 minutes.

Diamond brought this up in another thread and if the Steelers brought him here, Id be fine with it. This season does not encapsulate Eli, his team is a mess. Hes not the leading reason for their poor play.

As others have stated, I can see him in Jax but really depends what they do in the draft. Wherever he goes, hes going to want to start, and probably for more than a year. So a stop gap likely wont be an appealing situation for him.

He could sign with the Jets, I could see that, doesnt even have to change zip codes.

It's the first one. Aside from the only shootout @ colts, he averaged 15.75 in the losses. Seems a great defense is what takes him down, not shootouts. We need a combination of a pretty good defense and strong offense, or a pretty good offense and strong defense.

    2015 broncos won 20-18 championship @broncos
    2013 broncos won 26-16 championship @broncos
    2012 Raisins won 28-13 Championship
    2011 Giants won 21-17 Superbowl
    2010 Jets won 28-21 Conference
2009 Ravens won 33-14 wild card
    2007 giants won 17-14 Superbowl
    2006 colts won 38-34 championship @ colts
    2005 Broncos won 27-13 divisional @ broncos

Agreed. The only reason I brought up the shootout scenario is so that I can have some hope of dethroning them.

We don't have a stifling defense. We don't have the pieces in place to either generate enough pressure with 4 down linemen or cover effectively man to man.

So the only way I see us beating them is an epic offensive performance. We have the pieces. We have the ability. And we're due. Maybe all these nail biters and underperformances are just storing up chunk plays and explosiveness.

Maybe Tomlin DID know what he was talking about when he refered to the fireworks in a couple weeks!

And patriots did not win the 1st 3 sbs...Adam V did with his legs. .

I love how people never ever give credit to eli for GETTING THE GIANTS TO THE SB...but they are all over bradys nuts for getting rings that Adam V won them with his legs..

He wont sign with a losing team like the jets or broncos cardinals teams that have been mentioned, he has 2 or 3 good years left, his durability is not in question with 210 straight starts, it all depends on whether the giants are serious about releasing him of course, the owners Moras might have a say so about that.He will most likely be like peyton and go where he has the best chance to win with an offense that has a solid oline with a star studded receiver corp and a strong running game, he could get that here but not on any of the other teams mentioned, if ben leaves we have a good chance to sign him but the jags because of the coughlin connection will be a contender, this is all contingent on his release, and of course what Ben intends to do ???

And the OTHER 2 Super Bowl wins were due to two of the biggest boneheaded play calls in the history of the game.
