Youre comparing preseason to regular season action?

And Fitz did nothing as in his near 100 yard, 1 TD performance in the playoffs? Oh yeah, he fumbled, he sucks.

Watson has no body of work to be declaring him better than anyone. He'll need more than 5 carries before you can say he can perform with the 1's.

Fitz did good then, what has he done now? What did he do to hold his job from an undrafted rookie? Now I know you are going to dismiss what Watson showed in the preseason as being in the preseason and quality of guys he is playing against and so on. Sure a case can be made for that. A case can also be made that two seasoned veteran's one who ran for over 100 yards and 1 TD in the playoffs could not during the same preseason show they deserved to make the 53 man roster at multiple roles. The other guy was a free agent brought in and paid a good amount of money to play special teams and be the 3rd back or potentially the 2nd if Conner didn't start out strong.

I appreciate everything Fitz did at the time he did it but face facts when given a chance to play himself onto the 53 he didn't get it done, meanwhile Watson did. I don't buy the can't pick up the blitz or the didn't develop liked they'd hoped narrative. This was a roster move that was a made because they wanted an experienced guy back there this deep into the season if Bell gets hurt. They are playing the dirtiest player in the game this week and they wanted Fitz up to speed no more no less, it's about vet experience vs rookie potential. The brain trust choose Vet experience, that is why they run the team and we sit here debating, plus its fun.

Sounds a bit selective to me Thorn. All that Fitz did was tally 118 yards from scrimmage in the Steelers’ playoff win vs. Cinci, and then vs. Denver the first time we got into the red zone he had a 15 yard run to the 1, and scored on the next play. All of that while doing a credible job in pass protection for Ben against two teams with good pass rushes. I know there’s temptation to say “what have you done for me lately,” but it’s not like Fitz is a 35 year old RB with quickly declining skills. He is what he is: a versatile backup who can do a credible job playing the position on any down and distance + special teams. I liked what we saw from Watsonin the preseason, but it was pretty much all the same thing: running the football. If he’s not yet able to block at a high enough level or play multiple special teams roles, then I fully get the decision.

I love that quote. It was Leroy Hoard.
"Coach, if you ask me to get you 1 yard, I’m going to get you 3. If you ask me to get you 5 yards, I’m going to get you 3."
