"Cut out the bull[crap]. Be serious. Be serious, because it's about a team. It's not about individuals. It's about team. And I'm not specifically talking about the defense. I'm talking about everybody that contributes. We got a fantastic quarterback that in my view can do things that nobody else in the league can do. You name them, he can make the passes just like anybody else, better. But none of them can stand in the pocket and take the heat that he takes and make the plays.

"And he has the heart to play, but he has to believe in his team, that they feel the way he feels. Football is a hard game, very tough, and you got to love it. And if you don't you can't give your very best and you can't play. You got to love it.

"A good example of what's the best about the Steelers is the run that Jerome made against Chicago. Every fiber of his body, all the movement says Pittsburgh Steeler. And if we do that, nobody can stand against us. You just got to believe -- in one another. Not individuals."

Love it! He's so right. And yes, thinking about Jeromes game against the bears gives me chills... his last 100 yard game. Can't have it in a better game, with all that snow, and running over Brian Urlacher. The Bus definitely had his snow tires on!

The only way they could beat the Patriots is if they had the Steel Curtain defense :hehehe:.

When I saw the title thread, before clicking I was imagining what Mean Joe might have said. I`m thinking he says: "You big guys at the line, knock the guy in front of you on his butt and break Brady`s legs", LOL.

No offense to Joe Greene but his rah rah speech doesn't explain a thing in regards to beating the Patriots.

Maybe good coach speak but when I hear "Cut out the bull[crap]. Be serious. Be serious, because it's about a team. It's not about individuals. It's about team. And I'm not specifically talking about the defense. I'm talking about everybody that contributes. We got a fantastic quarterback that in my view can do things that nobody else in the league can do. You name them, he can make the passes just like anybody else, better." it reminds me of how a Bill Belichick team probably goes about it's weekly business.

Football is a hard game, very tough, and you got to love it. And if you don't you can't give your very best and you can't play. You got to love it." Yes, very true statements but sadly most players in the league these days worry more about how the choreographed celebration will look than actually putting the ball across the goal line first and foremost.

"A good example of what's the best about the Steelers is the run that Jerome made against Chicago. Every fiber of his body, all the movement says Pittsburgh Steeler. And if we do that, nobody can stand against us. You just got to believe -- in one another. Not individuals." I still remember calling some one out on the old message board thread when I said I wanted to see Jerome run over Urlacher and and the person responded "Not gonna happen". I only had a one word response afterwards "Happened".

Now if you want to know the true way to beat the Pats, it is to Blitz Brady up the middle early and often and don't stop no matter how many points you may be down. Win the turnover battle and limit Brady's offensive plays by keeping him on the bench with long suspended clock eating drives that result in TD's and not FG's.

They missed that opportunity last year but "if "we're healthy coming out of the MNF game against a hated rival Bengals and the SNF game against the other hated rival Rats teams then I like our chances more this year than last. That's huge "IF" though.

Good message and lends credence to speculation that Ben is put off by the individualism displayed by some teammates.

IMO, the way to beat the Patriots is to do it the same way we beat the Colts in the playoffs of the 2005 season.

And what was that? We came out throwing and throwing and throwing. Announcers were saying, they (us) were beating them at their own game.

We have to get ahead and stay ahead. It`s the only way IMO. The book on beating us is to stuff Bell on the 1st down run and double team Brown.

To kill that strategy, for the 1st quarter, fake the run to Bell over and over again and throw to Ju Ju or Brown when open, then Bell when neither of those two are open. We MUST make the passing game stick like we did in 05. Eventually, we will be able to run Bell after the passing sets up the run.

Don't forget getting after Brady! We harassed Peyton that game... Joey Porter had one helluva game. Hell, maybe he should suit up, lol. I think we'll unleash Deebo against the pats. We will need him, TJ and Bud to get after him. Cam needs to keep doing what he has been. A freaking beast all year. Shazier will have his hands full in the pass coverage I'd imagine, he NEEDS to stay healthy.

I suppose you can say that we already did that against the Pats a few years ago, during that one home game we beat them big. We controlled the clock/ball mainly be throwing to Heath Miller. Unfortunately we don't have a TE the caliber of Heath on this team.

I think the Colts Playoff game was a different story. We were a power run team. NO ONE expected us to throw. And we got up early on them with 2 quick scores by surprising them. It wasn't that we tried to beat them at their own game, it was that we came out and did something no one expected.

The only similar thing I can think of is if Ben beats the Patriots running the Wildcat Option all game completely out of nowhere. Or we dominate them with a the power-I for 4 quarters in this day and age.

I thinks the key to beating the Pats is pressure but more importantly pressure up the middle. We know where Brady is going to be he rarely moves off his spot but their passing game is designed to get the ball out before you can get to him. I think we need to run stunts, blitz up the middle, go to a 4 man front anything to get him to hesitate for a half second. We can't play a soft zone bend don t break BS against him.

As much as a QB needs time a defense needs to create time tight man to man coverage and take the shortest route to the QB straight at him.
Hoping Hargrave has little extra jump and can penetrate the middle and get Brady to back up then BAM Watt or Dupree light him up.

Problem is big bad bill will double brown and stop bell. He will know to protect Brady from interior. We don’t have the players for man.

    Now what?

Hargrave crashes the center into the guard, both Tuitt and Heyward force their man outside, VW comes on the cross blitz with TJ, Bud drops a bit and looks for Lewis, Burkehead or what RB Brady will look to dump to, Shazier is the spy and covers Gronk or the drag route to Amendola.
