If you think they don;t blow assignments you didn't see their first 4 games of the season. The real difference is that the Pats fix the issue.

Mistakes happen early in the season with every team. Rarely if ever is the team you see in the first few weeks the same as what you see in the final weeks. That’s only exacerbated these days by our limited practice time.

Unfortunately that's the way it goes, especially when you have a late pick year in and out. They need to hit on a late sleeper which is proving tough. Just gonna have to splurge on FA and get a solid guy if they can't hit in the draft. Safety should be obtainable in the draft.

100% agree that we need to see what Sutton had to offer cause we know what burns does without a bona-fide CB1 on the other side so he can have help.

Exactly you have to attack Brady head on because most of his movement in the pocket is forward or back, he is not fast enough to escape laterally.

Think of what collinsworth said about Hundley last night on his pass to TE Rodgers, he stepped up in the pocket to avoid the edge rush and they said it looked like Aaron Rodgers. Brady does the same thing with edge rushers and lineman protect him by splitting dline in the middle. Giants exploited this and went 2 for 2 against them in super bowls.

Burns has horrendous zone awareness. Just terrible. When he gets torched, it’s usually because he simply doesn’t execute his assignment in zone coverage. The Moncrief TD was a perfect example. Last night’s first TD was another. In both cases Burns flat out misplayed his deep 3rd responsibilities in Cover 3. Purely menu, and inexcusable given how much we play Cover 3. If we play more man coverage, Burns’ play will likely improve. Simple assignment: “hey Artie, see that guy? Stick with him.”

Cover 3 responsibilities are not hard to grasp, but I guess they are for Burns.

The bad news? You have to have an insanely talented D line to pull that off.

We do have a talented D line, and great linebackers. What we need is a proper scheme. Giants played a 4-3 so that's tough but Houston smacked Brady around in the playoffs last year with a 3-4 and would have beat the cheats if they didn't have a stiff as a quarterback.

I would like to know how Burns personally feels about his play. Is he really ok with making it harder on his team? If I was Artie Burns I would still feel guilty about now win or not.

I understand your concern, but, who at this point would replace him? Gay the fossil? Allen? Sutton who can't get a hat? This is the depth chart at RCB.

Burn's is the best alternative at this point. Hopefully he can play through this and improve. He needs a reality check and hopefully Heyward pulls him aside and has a heart to heart. Time to grow up son...

Steelrs CB Joe Haden (fibula) will undergo X-rays next week.
The results will determine how quickly Haden can resume practice. It sounds like Haden is trending toward a late season return. The Steelers are targeting Week 15 against the Patriots. Nov 29 - 4:26 PM

It would be unwise to rush Haden back. If he's not ready for the Patriots game, so be it. I'd rather have him 100% in the playoffs, than 70% for the Pats game and risk further injury to his leg.

I can see the Chargers or the Jaguars whipping the Steelers in the divisional round. It could happen.

    Another Tomlin playoff egg-lay.

So why are you concerned with Haden being 100% for the playoffs if you're convinced we're going to lose?

I'm not convinced we are going to lose. Why are you putting words into my mouth? I never said they were definitely gonna lose... I said it's possible for the Steelers to lay an egg, like they've done in the playoffs in the Tomlin era. See Tebow game.

Really? A quick look back at your post and it would be easy to find.
See that's the problem with trolling, it's a lot like lying it gets hard to keep track of.

You know, I was thinking about this. It's pretty well known you need to pressure Brady up the middle. What if the OLBs were to start on the edges, and then loop inside the DE/NT, similar to a cross-dog blitz? Could it be done quick enough before Brady could find somewhere to go with the ball?

Yes we have extremely fast linebackers in Watt and Dupree, even using Shazier from the inside. Beat gets the ball out so quick they will have to bump receivers off roots at the line to throw off timing and make Brady have to delay a few seconds.

Unfortunately our linebackers are the only way we can because our d line is great for run stuffing and are phenomenal, but not built for speed like the Giants 4-3 d line that beat the cheats. If Heyward and Tuitt can command double teams it will free up gap stunts for edge rushers.

The problem I'm having with Burns is not getting beat but missing the assignment completely, a glaring defect that has been over come with us winning those game. Artie won't even cover the dude he'll let him go right on his way and point fingers at afterwards.
Just can't do that in the NFL sheesh

We need Haden back period but priority should be getting him out there for the 1st round.

I know that the Tebow game is a shiny happy moment for the Tomlin haters, but there was more to that game than just the failed game plan that disrespected Tebow's passing ability. Ben had a high ankle sprain in Week 14, that was aggravated in Week 17 (and it showed big-time). Mendenhall tore his ACL in Week 17, so we lost our starting RB. Pouncey was injured and missed the game, and his backup Legursky was injured during the game. Ryan Clark missed the game due to concerns about his sickle cell trait at high altitude. We also lost Keisel, Hampton and Maxs Starks during the game. I know that some folks love to pretend that injuries never happened if it suits their agenda, but injuries DO matter, and we were utterly battered for that game. The second thing that the Tomlin haters like to ignore all the time is that the other guys get paid too. Sometimes it's not just that we underperform, it's also that the other guys do their jobs and sometimes play over their heads. Tebow made the throws that night that he failed to make for the entire season. He flat-out played the game of his life, and that was by far the biggest factor in the game. Was disrespecting Tebow a good game plan? I don't know. In hindsight it's easy to say that it poor game planning, but at the time it made sense to stack the box against a QB who - prior to that game - couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, but could move the chains with his legs. I'm not absolving Tomlin, but there was so much more to losing that game than just a less-then-stellar coaching moment.
