so basically you are betting on Sloter being the next Kurt Warner? An undrafted QB, not good enough to make a roster (and they are WEAK at QB in Denver) but then floats around, maybe bags a few groceries and then leads his team to the Super Bowl?

Can it happen again? Maybe....but to date...there has only ever been one...and that is Kurt Warner...I think you would be better off drafting your next QB.

This team is built to win now, if Ben retires after this season, the smartest thing to do is to sign a half descent free agent. They don't have time to hit and miss at the draft , players will get fed up and will want to go else where.

RG3 is looking for work i would give him a shot, he's still young.

I agree with the half decent free agent but GOD NO! To RG3. I'd rather go for Case Keenum. He's a pretty good player and has shown that he can win with a good team around him, and he will only be 30 I think. Sign him for a few years to see if Dobbs can be the guy and keep Landry as our back up. Seems like a win to me. I honestly doubt Ben is retiring after the year though. I think he has at least next season in him.

This way we can keep Bell and even make another play on defense with a FA signing and draft pick. Have a really good defense and top weapons around a capable QB. Doesn't sound too awful to me

Thing is, even if Keenum is available, would they be paying starter money to the next Matt Flynn? His run is gonna garner that type of money from somebody. Our team should not get into a bidding war for his services... Maybe he's a good QB if surrounded with talent and if he's that good in Minnesota then you'd think he could be better here... But a gamble and I think somebody snatches him up long before we entered into those sweepstakes and rightfully so. He's riding a hot hand and the Vikes are stupid if they go to teddy and screw up what's working, but I don't think the FO will pay what his hot run could demand.

I agree. There's a shortage of top quality QBs, and that will lead to inflated FA offers for the likes of Keenum which I would be hesitant to get involved with.

I'm convinced this is Ben's last season. When Bradshaw left I was a lot younger so I knew I had time to wait out another QB that could take us to the promised land. I am no longer a young man and don't have the time to wait it out. Really need to get #7 this year. My perfect #7 would be to go into NE and beat them, then beat the eagles in SB.

By the way, I do remember pimplydan. Didn't he make some simple post like Steelers have to win, and it became a legend.

Taylor is the one QB no one in the NFL can agree on.

I like him and would have no problem with him coming in as a stopgap QB for a year or two if needed. I would rather have Cousins, but Taylor is a decent consolation prize. He doesn't make mistakes, can make plays with his legs, throws a nice deep ball when he has to. Solid, middle of the pack NFL starter, in my opinion.

Yes to the right FA as a bridge. No to RG3. He's looking for work for a reason.

Or some variation of that. And I think he spelled lose as loose.

Believe it or not, someone actually has the original post from the Steelers message board :lolol:

This is not far fetched at all, but I think the plan would be for Taylor to be a bridge to our long-term starter. I don't think anyone in the league sees Taylor as "the guy" at this point in his career. He could lead a 10 win season with the other talent we have on offense, but we'd be longing for more.

If the Steelers bring in a FA, I dont think it will be to just bridge to the next franchise guy, its going to be to win the SB.

I think they feel they already have a couple options on the roster to bridge. I actually would prefer we find out what they can do.

Worse that happens is they fail miserably and we obtain a high enough pick to improve our chances of finding a franchise QB. Something that will not happen if we just bring in a guy that gets us in the 10 win range but not good enough to take us further.

I have a hunch the Steelers will not draft a QB in the first rd next year. We'll be picking too low for one of the top guys too still be there. Of course, we'll be picking too low for our other top need, safety, so who knows which way they will go. Have to see how the draft unfolds.

I understand the argument but I don't want to see 16 games of Landry Jones or Josh Dobbs. My blood pressure won't allow it.

I could see a move up to the low 20's for a qb if one is available. Their best plan of attack would be to leap frog those middle 8-8 teams who already have a bridge qb, but may be looking to upgrade.

With a Super Bowl caliber roster they need a more consistent QB than Tyrod.

It's not like he's a young guy that has a hot hand. Flynn was on his rookie contract when he tore it up and got paid because teams saw his potential. Keenum is what he is at this point. At 30 he's pretty much a stop-gap starter that can win games on a good team and will be bad on a bad team. I doubt there's going to be a huge bidding war for him. Someone might love him and pay him, but most teams looking towards he future would rather grab a young kid in the draft. 10 mil or so at most?

I hear ya... And I wouldn't be pissed if he was a stop gap they bring in, but I don't want a bidding war with other idiot orgs. We see it all the time... Teams far overreaching for low hanging fruit.
