Once BB retires after this season, would you sign Cousins for 2018? Furthermore, let's say we can't get KC, would you sign Drew Brees? Yes he will be 38 or 39. Yet I believe he keeps this team as title contenders.

If Ben retired I would make a run at Cousins.

I wouldn't mind Cousins, financials would be the stickler there though.

Brees would be a very short term band aid and would have to be coupled with a 1st rounder so he can learn for a year imo.

I wanted to ask about the guy we drafted this year. I couldn't remember his name so, I went to Steelers roster on this site. It's the roster from 2015! Some of those guys aren't even on the team anymore. Back to the original question, what's wrong with the guy we drafted? Is it just lack of experience, or is he Landry 2.0?

If the premise here is Ben has retired and we need a QB......

I do not keep up with college football, but if there is a standout future NFL franchise type QB coming out for the draft, we should find a way if possible to get in position to draft him.

Plan B, bite the bullet and pay up for Cousins. Who knows, we might not be paying for Bell and Ben at that point in time if it looks like Bell has lost a step and we would then be able to afford him. We have to think about winning now, we are not in rebuild mode.

Joshua Dobbs out of Tennessee. Just not enough information to know right now. He did play most of the preseason but hard to say imo.

Cousins would be cool but there's two problems. 1) He wants a lot of money and 2) He wants to play for his hometown team, 49ers. 49ers have the most cap space in the league. Cousins isn't taking a drastic pay cut to come play for the Steelers. It's not happening so this theory needs to just die.

There's two options 1) Current roster minus Ben, lead by Landry Jones and Dobbs. Do you think they are leading us to a Super Bowl? Waste 2-3 years on that. 2) Trade some of these divas and get a franchise QB and another playmaker. On a 3-4 year plan to a Super Bowl.

We already have back ups we don't like. Why get more? Neither of them is a future?

You don't think either of those players would be plug n play? I think Cousins or Brees would step right in, the questions involve money for KC and age for DB though. The future would be 3-5 years for KC, but only 1 year for DB imo. But like I said earlier in another thread, the Brees signing would be a 2-parter with a first rounder.

I don't think anyone one is plug and play. New player, new team. It would be 2019 before God would lead us to the promised land.

No blasphemy intended my horizontal friend.

Cousins should be on speed dial.

    Brees needs to retire.

I'm not talking Super Bowl bound or bust as a QB their first year here. IF Ben retired, I just think those two would keep us in contention (meaning playoff contender).

What in God's green earth is this comment? Are you suggesting this team is the same with Landry compared to Cousins and Brees?

I’m all about Cousins. If he wants to win a super bowl, we’ve got the insane talent.

Yes to Cousins he has mobility . No to Drew he doesn't have the mobility. I still think Dobbs can lead us if we change the approach. KC finally realized that Smith was a spread QB . They drafted a QB and decided to let Smith play a year in a style that he likes. He is now playing great. The NFL is leaning towards these spread types more and more .

No way is the skins owner dan snyder going to let cousins get away and go through QB hell again, so just forget about cousins being available, brees is in his 15th year so no future with him here, better chance of getting alex smith whose long in the tooth as well, since reid cant wait to get mahomes behind center next year, and smith wouldnt be a long term answer either, going to have to bite the bullet and get a 1st round QB in this up coming draft, and the way Darnold has been fumbling and throwing picks this year he needs to stay in school for another year so who would we draft after him?????????????

If tagged again (which he can’t be), the top-5 salaries’ average is $25.5MM. Ben’s making ~$22MM this year.

The owner doesn't have much say at all. He can hope to offer a boatload of cash that will not be matched. Otherwise, they are screwd...

Cousins can be tagged again, but the non-exclusive franchise tag would cost them $34 million in 2018. They can also apply the transition tag at $28 million, and that allows them the right to match any contract offer he gets. If they don't match, he's gone. If he doesn't get a contract, he plays for $28 million guaranteed. To me, the transition tag is the smart play for them. They would probably match any contract offer he gets.

With Ben and Flacco looking like their time is up and it's rebuild time the Cleveland Browns might have their chance to make a little noise in the NFC North. And by little noise I'm thinking a kitten's purr:)
