I’ve got a very nice desktop for work and play. It’s equipped with a 120GB SSD main (C drive and a 1TB traditional slave (E.

The SSD has Win7Home and Office Home & Business 2013. Between those two and files from normal operation, the SSD is filled to just over 115 GB of its 120GB capacity.

That’s untenable. I frequently get messages that the C: drive is dangerously low on free space. I can’t find anything further to purge or move to the E: drive.

I love how this baby runs with the OS on a SSD. And Office won’t install anywhere other than the C: drive.

Short of buying a huge SSD to replace the current one, what can I do?

 

With Windows (64 bit) and Office together, that should take up around 40 to 45 GB. That should leave you quite a bit of space.

I have Windows 10 and Office 2016, and a 500GB SSD card. I have 159GB of used space, but that includes the entire Adobe Suite, several Steam games, some GOG games, lots of pictures and videos, and some applications I use for work.

If you check your C: drive, do you by chance have a second Windows folder named Windows.old?

 

I went through this a couple of years ago. There is a way to set your computer to install software on the slave drive -- some installs don't give you the option to select drive so tis automatically put on the C drive.

I don't remember what that setting was.

I forgot: there’s also Minecraft (my sons getting his own computer for Christmas) and a couple similar games.

I’ll look for an “old” folder.
