kinda made sense. If they only get a fg, we can sill win it. If we stop them, win.

The defense laid an egg. True, they were likely worn out. Hindsight is 20/20

So lets get this right!!! Ben was suppose to kick the Football off to start OT. So Ben is not only our starting QB, but he's also got kicking duties as well!!!! Oh my that is baffling to say the least. So Boswell must be trying out for 4th string QB ahhh that's really bizarre.:facepalm: Sorry not trying to be sarcastic, but that's how I interpret it as saying!!!

I don't recall it looking windy, but that's a reason you might make that decision - to get the wind.

If you were guaranteed a possession no matter what, I might agree with that strategy but not when the receiving team can end the game with a TD. You must receive when you win the toss in OT. Our defense was gassed.

I'm good with Boz QB'ing, so long as his dink-n-dunk throws are better than his dink-n-dunk kicks.

I don't like the decision either. I'm just pointing out one semi-logical reason why the decision could have been made.

Kicking off to begin OT is ridiculous.

Not if Tomlin is playing against the Steelers D in his FF league.

Probably was playing against Haley who had Bombs away Ben as QB in his line up also.

It's brilliant strategy to say the least.

I guess Tomlin just couldn't fathom that his D might be gassed on a 100 degree day.....which kinda explains why Harrison couldn't get any meaningful snaps.....

Might not have been such a bad idea. Our defense had kind of figured out the Bears late in the game. In OT if the hold on Haden is called, they would have punted from deep in their own territory.

Did we win the opening toss and take the ball too? I didn't see who won it.

    This.

The last two plays of the game were anomalies. In general the Bears struggled to move the ball in any sustained way, and the high rushing yards are due to the numerous chances they had to start a drive (thanks, offense!).

So it's not a completely crazy idea. But probably not one I would have gone for.

At any rate moving on, the packers will destroy the bears tonight to show the world how bad the bears really are........

Heck with that. It's easy to get an 50-60 yard touchdown at times.
Look at the Steelers lost in OT to Tebow in Denver years ago.

You call the wrong defense, or two guys run into each other, game over.

MT: Ben, if we win the toss, elect to kick. We'll get the ball back and your great offensive attack is sure to get us the 3 pts we need to win.

Ben: you think thats wise, coach?

MT: Absolutely, what do you think? That they're gonna run the ball down our throats and get a TF on the first drive?

Ben: Ha, you're right that'll never happen!

It is a huge mental error to defer in OT unless the decision is related to very bad weather IMO. The big reason is the OT rule that says first possession TD ends the game and there is no getting around that. In this particular game, our defense was tired and there was even more reason to get the ball first.

It makes no sense to me that was Tomlin`s decision.
