My hopes are this was just a one week thing and we can be mad for a few days then move on?
A win against the Ravens will help.

The last paragraph is the biggest reason they lost.

Whats the excuse for all the other times they have played games like this?

    Tread lightly here.

So AV took a few extra steps out of the tunnel and his teammates didn't expect it. Curious... well, not really. I would expect nothing less of AV. I doubt any locker room tension begins because of it.

(and let's keep the discussion about the team. Not the political or demonstration side of things)

Ben admitted it may have had a small effect. Not necessarily how the team decided to act. But the whole whirlwind that caused this mess to begin with.

I only hope they get back to normal this week, and this was a one week poke at you know who.

I have to agree with Harrison. They made a decision as a team. The point was to keep everybody out of politics and headlines and what AV did is doing that. All you see is pictures of him on Twitter talking about how he stood alone while his teammates hid in the locker room. Making his teammates look bad.

Definitely the biggest reason they lost. I do like the fact that BB didn't try and B.S. and at least admitted that the stuff going on with the team Saturday night somewhat contributed to their play today.

Well if the shoe fits. Glad AV didn't succumb to the peer pressure.

Bottom line the steelers played like crap.
    Nothing more nothing less.
If James has a problem with what AV did then he needs to realize what sacrifices have been made by all in uniform to allow his very famous and well funded life.

Well Harrison and others are probably mad because they wanted to be out there for the anthem but they decided as a team not to. So when one person goes against that and makes them look bad in the process. Not a good look.

The Steelers played badly but it is nothing I haven't see with many teams, many times over the years. On the road, a dropped sure TD followed by a blocked punt ... A tone gets set and you can just sense watching how it'll probably turn out.

Nothing about Harrison's statement in that article leads me to believe he was upset.

“We thought we were all in attention with the same agreement, obviously. But, I guess we weren’t,” Harrison said after the game, according to Jacob Klinger of pennlive.com.

I respect Villanueva and what he did and I 110% guarantee you I'd have been standing beside him no matter the consequences.

Just going by what the writer said.

While Roethlisberger apparently didn’t have an issue with Villanueva’s Sunday actions, it appears as though another well-respected veteran of the team, outside linebacker James Harrison, somewhat does.

Redskins used it to their advantage to not be defeated.
That's what the players were saying postgame.
They were gonna fight as one in unity.

The writer made a pretty vague statement there, "apparently", it appears", "somewhat". He's projecting.

Props to AV & the Bears organization for paying respect to the flag & country. The other 52 Steeler players are cowards. Been a Steeler fan for decades but today is the first time I refused to watch the game & hoped they lose. I'm glad they lost because they deserved to lose. Next time lets hope the spoil ungrateful rich men do the right thing & not disrespect the flag...

I had posted something along these lines yesterday right after the game and was blasted by a few for it. Then sadly, the thread was locked...smh

It's good to see this thread is still up, because it has A LOT to do with the Steelers and it needs to remain an active thread to be discussed. If your feelings are going to get hurt talking about it, move to the next thread! I guess you can say that this thread isn't going to be your "safe space!"

Yes, there are numerous factors that went into the loss. But if you're going to sit here and say that this whole anthem business had nothing to do with it, TAKE YOUR FRICKIN BLINDERS OFF AND LAY OFF THE KOOL-AID! Quit being so damn naive! The night before this game, their asses should've had a team meeting talking about what they needed to do to beat these scrubs that they were embarrassed by. Not by what kind of shenanigans they were going to pull to try and prove some stupid ridiculous point. Not standing and respecting your country/flag is the most dumb/petty thing I've ever heard. What the hell are you trying to prove by not standing and respecting AMERICA. It's not about it being someone's "right" to not stand, it's about being a role model for the kids that look up to you. As someone in education, I've had to deal with this for years. We are held to a different standard than others in our community. It's a part of the territory. The only difference is these whiners are paid millions of dollars. The high-end salaries, like Ben (who I do not believe would agree with not respecting the flag, just using his $ as an example)...make in ONE QUARTER what it will take me 20+ years to make. And then think about the fact that on average, he's not on the field for half of that quarter.

The STEELERS chose to open this can of worms yesterday. Now, while respecting TTF and the moderators on here...in my opinion, it's OUR RIGHT on this message board to let loose on how we feel! Again, if there are some who can't handle this conversation, they can feel free to move to the next thread and talk about how wonderfully we played yesterday...

He's a veteran. He's been on the battlefield. These idiot NFL players talk about going to "war" when speaking to the media. I'll remember forget what Kellen Winslow Jr said one time about being a soldier and war, and whatever else that dunce rambled on about. These guys have no idea what "battle" and "war" is.

AV has been on the REAL battlefield. If the other players don't like what he did, I'm sure he'd have no problem saying "come talk to me after your ass has gone to war!"

I had a sick feeling in my whole stomach from around 1245pm until I went to bed yesterday as I read about the planned protest (or whatever it was). I kind of related it to your son coming to you and telling you something about him that totally went against any kind of view that u ever believe in or have taught him to believe in.

I wanted to believe that this protest thing was some kind of west coast thing that would never happen or be allowed to happen on my beloved Pittsburgh Steeler team. Obviously I was wrong.

I would still love my son and support him regardless and I will my Steelers as well.

I hope everyone else can too.

none of these others did 3 tours of duty with AV to secure their big money jobs. they owe him more than he owes them. if you don't stand for the flag , why should the flag stand for you. very simple. here's to AV. i would have liked to see him walk out to mid field and stand without them.
