That may be the single weirdest sequence of events I've seen in my 45 years of watching NFL football.

 

I`m still wondering about the ruling on the field. It must be right because they took so long figuring it out, but I never remember a team on offense that fumbled a ball into the end zone that ended out of bounds ever getting the ball back.

I think it has to be. If the ball goes out the back off the EZ,half over, if the ball os recovered by PGH, half over. But the bat out of the EZ deprived Chi from recovering. If the returned had recovered the ball for Chi , TD. If a diiferent Bear did, ball back spot of fumble, half over. But the half can't end on defensive penalty, PGH was the D. So one more play.

 

Refs got themselves in a real mess there.

You're right as well - dead ball penalty should end the half.

Ah well. Only one way to fix this **** now - play some better football.
