I like Vacarro but when we brought in Wilcox that's probably the extent we were going to in order to help the safety play.

I have not watched much of Vaccaro since he got to the pros, but I have to admit that picking up a safety from a historically bad pass defense scares me a bit. I liked him coming out of college, but there has to be a reason why a team with one of worst pass defenses of all time is shopping him.

I know what you are saying but a similar argument could have been made against Joe Haden.

Sometimes a good player gets dragged down in a bad system/team.

I think Vonn Bell has taken his spot, but you are right, curious as to why they wouldn't keep him for depth/rotation just to finish the year.

I got to watch a little of that game and Sean Davis was a disaster. I know he is young but at some point the mistakes should become less and less, not more and more. He consistently makes the same bad reads with the same poor angles, I just don't think he is going to get it and I hope I'm wrong but there is no improvement or even hints of improvement, his poor play is going to hurt this team as soon as we face a good QB.

he did lead us in tackles so he's around the ball. mike hilton, haden, gay, burns are all ahead on tackles compared to mike mitchell. he has 4 on the year so far and 3 of those are assists. just sayin.

I think we still need better Safety play esp. vs. the pass . I don't trust any at the position against a great QB these guys will get exposed badly .

Leading in tackles isn't always necessary a good thing. Especially for DBs.

He looks lost from time to time and is periodically late in diagnosing plays.

I want him to start making more plays. Passes defensed, INTs, FFs.

Two weeks in and Sean Davis still does not have some of the principles of safety play down even after a full offseason to do so.

As the writing team stated in his X Factor article, he has the athletic ability but is lacking in his mental processing. Nevermind his lack of play recognition but his situational awareness is more alarming to me; this second game especially.

I still have hope that Davis can turn it around but he is running out of time to do so. J.J. Wilcox cannot get healthier soon enough should this trend continue heading into Chicago and nevermind mid season.

Notice our safeties are always playing too deep. Notice the only chance they have to break up a play is to go for the big jarring hit from the back. I think they do this from the fear of getting beat deep. I wish they could play 3 or 4 steps closer to get in better positions & start jumping some of these routes ...like Ed Reed use to do

Our safeties are clearly the Achilles heel of our D and if they don't come around they will be the reason for the demise of this D.......That lollipop throw and catch on the 3rd and 20 is inexcusable...

Only elite defenses can stop elite qb's, sadly we aren't there yet.

They play where the coach tells them to.

as a strong safety that is a lot of his job. my concern is mitchell isn't even making tackles or anything else back there. he's the vet. i'm just saying at least davis is involved in something back there, nothing much from mitchell.
