Tomlin never had all his guys play together in preseason... Could have cost us!

Who they play in a preseason game has nothing to do with how they practice.

If you remember, Ben was critical last season of how hard they practice.

It was a cupcake the season before. Most of the starters only played one quarter in 2016 pre-season, and they rolled the Redskins the opening game.

Give it some time. Got to stop the flags. Holding calls kill drives and keep you from running the ball. Flags also extend drives for the other team, keeping you on the field.

But, there is no utter doubt the Browns starters played lots more than our starters did in the pre-season.

Steelers had a few chances to turn this into a blow out. If Ben doesn't throw that pick, which the safety for the browns made on heck of play on the ball to tip it.

There was also a previous play where the ball got batted down at the line and he had Eli Rogers one on one with a linebacker.

If Steelers score there. They are up 28-10. Browns would have waived the flag there. Even if just a FG your up 24-10.

Can't have turnovers when your about ready to score. Ben was trying to go for the nail in the coffin, it ended up getting picked, it gave the Brownies some life and it kept them in the game.

Good lord people, it was the first game of the season. There are always things to work on for the first few weeks. Are patriots fans whining about belichek after losing to the chiefs? We shut down the browns run game and held their passing game to 200 yards. Tack on 7 sacks and an interception and it was a solid day overall.

Yup played bad O in a division hostile environment and won.

    Reminder 2008 Steelers beat a 4-12 browns team 10-6 and 8-8 chargers team 11-10.

    Just win baby

Just glad they got their Dress Rehearsal out of the way on the shores of Lake Erie rather than in Foxboro or Arlington. Looks like the Bungles attended Camp Marshmallow this year.

Good news...... even ugly division wins count more than beautiful non-division non-conference wins.

Agreed, you take a win anytime, ugly or not. I'm not to worried as it was the first game, no team looks great or the gate. The Browns are always a trap team add we are all they play for, steelers games are their superbowl, so they always come out hard. Barring word on Tuitt, I'm just happy we get out of there healthy as the only thing the Browns and Bengals are good at is injuring our star players. Hope Tuitt is OK because that is a blow to a great looking defense yesterday.

I saw so many teams slow start yesterday it's impossible to pick who looked the worst, I want to see the vikes game today to see what they have for us next sunday, probably another slow start game, but at least our coaches can watch it and get a feel for what the vikes have for us.....

Many of the "top" teams looked pretty piss poor this week: NE, Seattle, GB, Atlanta...

Outside of KC, nobody looked good. The Jags and Rams won big because of how freaking terrible Houston and Indy are. First week is U.G.L.Y.

Camp cupcake is probably true, but didn't the last CBA make a lot more restrictions on preseason practices and such?

I think the starters should play a little more in preseason. I know everyone is scared of injuries, but looking like a well-oiled machine coming out the gate would of been nice. I'm glad we won but we could of easily lost to a rookie quarterback.

Ben played maybe a few snaps in the third preseason game? The OL played the most during the preaseason and should not looked like they did yesterday.

I much rather look awesome in December, January, and Feb. than in September.

It's lose lose. Don't play your guys in peeseason and start slow, this is the reaction you get.

Play your guys too much in preseason and suffer a big injury or two and be crucified for that.

I would like to see our guys play more in the preseason but I'll take season long health over season ending injuries.

It doesn't matter if it's camp cupcake or hellweek with the SEAL teams this team lives and dies on offense with Ben. So let's be honest Ben is a rhythm and chemistry QB. When he is in rhythm he is the best there is. When he has chemistry with you he finds you. Cotchery was legendary, Lance Moore wanted out after not clicking with Ben. Jesse James has Ben's confidence and he hauls in 2TD's. Vance MacDonald drops his lone pass yesterday and didn't get a look after. AB gets 11 targets for almost 200 yards think about that.

So until Ben develops chemistry with these guys and gets his rhythm going the type of camp they run doesn't change anything

Yes, practices were drastically cut as per the last cbs. No more two a days and only 14 padded practices during the season. I'm amazed how the camp cupcake thing has grown

I'm saying they have to play a lot in the other preseason games other than the 3rd. Maybe two or three series in the 2nd preseason game and the 4th. But Ben played in the 3rd game and that was it. Luckily we had the Browns week one, because if it was the Ravens, we would of gotten skull drugged.

It wasn't that long ago when the standard seemed to be:

    1st game - 1 drive maybe 2.

2nd game - 1 full quarter and into the 2nd.

3rd game - full half and into the 3rd.

    4th game - nothing.

They won the game, a road win in the division so what if they didn't blow out the Browns. Atlanta and New England were big favorites also .

Then if Ben or AB gets injured in the preseason, the story will be Tomlin is a idiot why are they playing in the preseason.

They could easily get injured in that 3rd preseason game and it would be the same narrative. Injuries can happen anytime. But Ben is a smart veteran. He could throw one pass and hand it off two times. But at least he gets in slight rhythm. AB has been returning punts for years now and avoids injury. A couple of series per game could be worth the risk if we come out looking better against the Browns.

If we would of lost that game, it would be different tone right now.

To answer the question about Bill, I'm certain there are some that are.
