Until Bell contributes to a Super Bowl victory for the Steelers... he is nothing compared to Harris, Bleier, Bettis and Parker.

So here is the 17 million dollar question....How good a season does Bell have to have to even get the same offer he turned down last year? How bad a season does he have to have to except that offer?

He is going to be one year older....and IMO would have to have almost the same great season he had last year....No doubt Bell is betting on himself....but I think the contract he was offered last season is now his basement....If he has a bad season....or gets injured and is out for the year...he will not sign an extension...He will force them to tag him at 14 mill....

Tell me how he gained any money by holding out? He was tagged and the deadline to negotiate a long term deal had long passed. Even if the Steelers wanted to give him more money they couldn't.

if he expects a mil. a week in a 17 week season, he'd have to give back about $995,000.25 for this week.

I'm with you, I'll be pulling for Bell to do well because it helps the Steelers. That said, I found myself really kinda of bitter today watching him play. Mostly because this season's hold out (or whatever want to call it) was yet another selfish decision that hurt this team. The last two seasons he's been suspended for drugs (and I don't want to debate whether pot should legal or not, the fact is it isn't allowed in the league and he knows it). So now 3 seasons in a row the team has had to adjust to him doing something that negatively effects the teach.

On top of that, he's been hurt every season! The offer he got this year is the biggest he'll see from the Steelers. I SO want him to stay healthy and help this team get #7, but if I had to put down money, I'd bet he'll be hurt sooner rather than later. Please don't read into that as I'm hoping for it to happen, I'm not. I think this team needs him.

Actually they are, the Chiefs look like they found a future star RB in Kareem Hunt who was a 3rd pick.

I think he does the hold out move next year complete with Twitter sideshow, Steelers fran tag him again and he plays his last season in a Steeler uniform. I believe he will get substantially less after 2018 than what he did this year. Simple depreciation.

I believe he gets 14 million with the tag next year. Even if he has a great year I don't see the Steelers tagging him unless they truly believe that they can get him signed long term.

Lloyd was out of football when he had his legal problems, not that I'M m trying to defend him. He was accused of sticking a pistol in his sons mouth iirc, but I don't know if he was convicted of anything. Not real familiar with Donald's contract situation, but one can hold out without acting like a petulant child. I'd rather they continued to negotiate while showing up for work but, I realize this is how some players and their agents choose to do business in todays NFL.

AB did not hold out. AB's contract was fair for all sides. I believe what SG is referring to is the locker room stunt last year. I made the comment that it was stupid to want to get rid of AB after that even though it was very selfish of him and even somewhat diva like. But he manned up and apologized and we've all moved on. To me, that's apples to oranges compared to what Bell has done this year. Bell has disappointed the team twice now with his SAP suspensions and he's been injured multiple times over the last few seasons when the Steelers needed him the most, yet he wants the team to break the bank for him?! Give me a break! How about staying healthy and keeping your freaking nose clean for one entire season first! Otherwise, develop a little humility!!

Bell is way on the wrong team to make himself some kind of martyr. Steeler fans are not going to be sympathetic to his plight at all if it comes at the expense of the team. We're not a bunch of sjw's like in Seattle. We'll tell him to man up and get his butt to work like the rest of us and shut up with his whining. I still believe the majority of Steelers fans have a blue collar mentality and this hold out stuff goes over like a led zeppelin. We're a fanbase that loves Heath's and Rocky's. He'd do well to look to those guys if he wants to know what Steeler fans really hold in high regard.
