A question for the fans living in Canada....

I used to get Sunday Ticket through my local cable provider, but that is now not possible, as a new company out of the UK (DAZN) has the NFL rights for Canada. Has anyone signed up for this streaming site or used them in the past for other sports? Looks like they have soccer, tennis, etc.

Just curious what experience others have had.

Yes I am using them now. I have a fiber optic broadband connection at 75MB download. Working well for me thus far. I do however wonder if once the season starts there may be server issues because of the demand. The HD quality is really good.

    I also have DAZN.

At first i tried to use it on an older android box with a basic Rogers connection. It was poor quality.

I now run it through a google chromecast on a better Internet connection and it is pretty good.

I would recommend a good quality product to stream it, a good tv and if you can, a firebreop line. You won't have any problems there.

I hope this DAZN has no problems. Pretty big gamble by the NFL to give them exclusive rights within Canada.

It's cheaper, get red zone network , and I love the ON Demand feature. If it's problem free then we will be the winners.

    Thanks guys.

I'm not super 'tech savvy' and I don't currently have a smart TV, but my plan was to use my phone or iPad to stream the games and hook it up to my TV. I've used this method before to view online content on my outdoor TV and it's worked pretty well. I'm not sure how the fiber optic line factors in, pardon my ignorance.

My cable company is now scrambling and offering a way to watch 'all' games with their time shift channels on CTV and the TSN channels. Not sure how that would work out.

Obviously, I just want to make sure I don't miss a single Steelers game.

I'm not sure what you have, Bell or Rogers cable.

Depends where you live but Bell offers Fibreop cable and internet. It's the highest quality. I have Rogers and the speeds aren't quite as good.

Direct TV US.....I know this does not help ur situation....

But FYI for US Next year. I always Call To cancel my NFL Ticket at the end of the year so it does not auto-renew on my account.

At the beginning of the following season, I call and ask if they can add NFL Ticket at no charge. It's been successful three years straight.

There's a joke in there somewhere about Bell being shockingly expensive and offering only one-year contracts...but I'm too lazy to make it.

I'm with Bell; they recently bought out our local company.

I just had a chat with one of their representatives and apparently, with the time shift CTV channels and the 5 TSN channels, all NFL games will be available. So, looks like I'll add the time shift channel options and see how it goes. Maybe it's something you can do too, NB?

I might consider signing up with DAZN, for the 1st month, just in case.

Yeah, time shifting gets you alot of games. I would skeptical that you would get them all though. If you can that would be fantastic. Let me know how it goes.

I'm not sure if it was just for August or even if you sign up now but DAZN were offering 1 month free. Might be something to look into. Great that it's not a 4 month contract and that you can cancel any time.

Yeah, I'm skeptical too, but that's what they told me. I'll get DAZN for back up.

    I'll keep you posted!

I just got DAZN this week, and will be streaming it from my laptop. Initial tests were good quality (I have Fido, owned by Rogers). I too am curious to see how it holds up with demand on regular season Sundays.

Did anyone try DAZN on Thursday? I just watched it on NBC but I'm reading that the live stream was a disaster. Low quality. Cutting in and out. Missing audio.

I have a bad feeling for tomorrow.

If it is indeed a disaster, this is all on the NFL for handing out exclusive rights in Canada, and other countries, to some 2 bit streaming app.

I just off the phone with Direct TV begging for a loyalty discount rate for Sunday ticket and they gave me $20 a month off which saves me about $120 for the season, that's better than nothing!!! Bring on the Brownies:herewego!::brownssuck:

I watched the second half on Thursday on DAZN, and the video quality was good, but not great.More like standard def rather than HD, and only one bounce out. I missed the first half because I could not get to the home page. For some reason it keeps booting me to the "U.S. - this service is not available in your country" even though I am very much in Canada. I have been in contact with their IT via email (they do not have a phone number :@) and they have yet to fix it. Ironically, in order to assure that I do not miss the game tomorrow, I subscribed to a VPN service to change my IP address to Canada :frustrated:. I really hope they fix it soon because I am less than impressed.

So, how did it go on Sunday? I've heard some rumblings that DAZN was pretty bad. How did you guys make out?

The Steelers game was on a few channels with my extended cable, but I still have doubts, as I tried surfing around to see if I could find all of the games and I couldn't locate the Ravens - Bengals match up.

Hopefully this doesn't happen with any Steelers games because they're more of a draw than those turds, but I don't like not knowing that I'll be able to watch, no matter what. And DAZN doesn't seem like it would even be a good safety net.

    DAZN was a disaster.

Luckily the Steelers game was on TSN. I wanted to watch the Raiders vs Titans as a bac kup game. On DAZN, it was like watching a game in slow motion. Poor quality.

NFL and DAZN apologized, but who's stepping up to refund money? Give a discount for a future month? Of course nobody. We suffer.

Luckily the ON Demand still works fine. So I'll probably watch a game off that most nights this week.

Have to see how they handle this. Just lucky it can be cancelled at any time. If everything I've read continues, there will be many cancellations. I won't due that until a Steelers game is ruined.

That sucks. And it really shouldn't happen. No idea why the NFL went this route.

For what it's worth, with the time shift channels, I was able check in on the Raiders vs Titans on CTV west, I believe it was. There were WAY too many of the east channels picking up the Bills vs Jets game. It was on at least 6 channels.

Yeah that was the only other game I got on my cable. If I had the time shifting channels I may have got a couple of others.

But yes I'm just shocked the NFL took away Sunday Ticket from Bell and Rogers and gave exclusive rights to some unknown like DAZN who has fumbled the ball, bigtime.

Just remember to cancel your NFL ticket at the end of the season with Direct TV so you are not on the auto renew list next year. That way, when you are talking to a "retention specialist" at the beginning of the following NFL season, they'll be able to give you the ticket at no charge.

Went ok for me. Had some issues wirelessly but lan cable plugged into my desktop I was able to watch it. Picture quality was really quality. Twice the screen would start shaking and had to reload. Minor annoyance. I was happy just to watch. Next game ( Vikqueens) I will be at Heinz enjoying it first hand :) Oh and had some people tell me they watched the game on TSN4

After having to connect to DAZN through a VPN, I couldn't watch the first quarter because the Steelers game wouldn't load. Eventually it did in the second quarter. The quality was decent. Bumped off once but got right back on.
Today tech support sent me a work around which seems to be working so far.
I am now watching the Vikings game on it and the quality is pretty good. I am still skeptical though. let's hope they fix these issues quickly.
