I think it will start with Burns and Haden with Gay in the slot but Hilton will take over by week 6 because I just don't think Gay has anything left.

Yes I said starting 3 lets not start that debate again.

I'm really surprised Gay made the 53. I'd have cut him the day after the AFCCG!

    Agree as well.

Hilton seems to be a player who catches onto things quickly. I also concur on the Week 6 prediction too.

By start, do you mean make active? I didn't realize the slot cb was considered a starter.

    They are in todays NFL.

Given the rise and popularity of slot receivers, the same must be said for slot corners.

Depends on distance and Offensive packages ? If WR/RB or smaller type TE package then go CB. If more TE based or bigger type WR package then bring in the hitters .

There was a discussion last year on the 3rd down something or other being "a starter".

I pretty much consider there to be 12 "starters" on both sides of the ball. As much as the nickel and the #3 WR play they have to be considered starters. Yes technically Nix is the starting fullback but if Rogers gets 30 more snaps than him who's the starter? Same with Hargrove and whoever the nickel is.

A starter is a starter. The punter may not be 1 of the first guys to go in ,but he is a starter . The first guy in on said packages are starters . A Team does have a starting nickle back, a starting slot WR ,a starting FB . a Starting 4th. and 5th. WR .

It's not like the Coach does not know who they want to send in first in certain packages. Most Coaches I know consider those guys as Starters .

We do not have the play by play in practices now... so guys like McGee are not played and hidden on the PS and guys like DJ are let loose.. Who would guess that unless your watching practice... So with Tomlin i would go with Burns, Haden and Gay... Once Gay is caught chasing ball carriers after a catch then Hilton will come in.

So should we consider this debate as starting, or only a back up to the original post?

I'd say, put him in from day one...this way, by the time we start playing the harder competition then he will be ready. Plus, won't sutton be ready by then?

I think it happens more like week 3 or 4. Hilton was very impressive, and like said above I think Gay has lost a step or maybe 2.
