The fact it's with the Browns - that means HIGH 6th and 7th rounders. :hmm:

edit - OK it's just a High 6th rounder. Dire Straights said it well: "Something for n............"

It's funny Coates gets ragged on for his hands but he has more yards in 1 season (half season really) than DHB does in 3 seasons.

Memo to Steeles. Find another gunner so you can cut the real dead weight at WR.

Or maybe DHB just makes a real mean omelet for Coach T.

Cmon Blast we are clearly waiting for DHB to lose a step or two at gunner so we can move him to safety....after all it's his destiny.

When that happens Butler will send him on a safety blitz, but the qb will bounce off his hands.

you had to know when Tomlin names him specifically the other day for what he brought to special teams that when push came to shove they valued that more that potential yardage for Coates

You forgot the big one: 1st Jarvis Jones. The thing is, that's just the way the draft goes. There's nobody else out there who doesn't also whiff on a lot of picks. Even the Pats have had plenty of high picks who never did anything.

Why do they need to find another gunner, when DHB is a great one?

I would actually say the Patriots drafting is quite poor.

We're forced to carry 6 WRs and one can't catch worth a damn. Far worse than Coates. I have a problem with that.

Find a gunner who can actually play his position too.

Remember during training camp I posted Coates could be traded, and you kept telling me Coates would be on the Steelers .

Sammie Coates can't catch worth a damn, and you wanted to keep him....

I'm happy to have excellent, difference making special teams players... Chidi Iwuoma couldn't cover worth a damn, and was always worth a roster spot.

There's a reason the great Bill Bellichick keeps Matthew Slater, year after year....

Remember when you said JH was washed up 3 years ago?

One had a significant injury one did not.

All I asked was for a different gunner so we can put a roster spot to better use.

You wanted Coates on the roster at the expense of the gunner position.

We kept 5 WRs (all better than Coates)
We also kept a top tier Special Teams play (DHB)

    It's good roster construction.

We didn't lose anyone that mattered because we kept DHB...

The team chose Hunter over Coates, good choice.

IMHO Coats was not going to see significant playing time this year. He was expendable. The Steelers are in the enviable position of having too many good receivers and instead of just cutting him and getting nothing, they got a draft pick.

Yeah it was Coates vs Hunter. DHB was going to get on the roster sue to ST play. Hunter was better than Coates in the pre season. Simple as that.

I liked Coates and I think he still offers potential but as far as a Steeler he didn't have a future here. Same goes for DeMarcus Ayers.

I would have kept Coates over DHB, but I get why they didn't. Coates has some upside at WR and as a ST player, but Hunter is a better WR right now and DHB is a better ST player right now.

I don't agonize over these bottom of the roster decisions. It so rarely ends up being worth it.

You were adamant that JH was finished

You're trying to rag on a guy when you hold title for the most epic fail ever. Every year JH plays is you getting hit in the face with another egg.

Yes and Ayers too. Im particularly disappointed with Ayers but I knew that was coming. I think both had very good potential.

Im sure DHB isnt the only one who can play the gunner position. Im sure his ability to play it better than anyone else isnt that vital to the success of the team. Maybe Hunter turns into something, I hope he does, because DHB is pretty useless as a receiver if he needs to step up due to injury. Its great that he can line up every where, he can have balls bounce off his helmet from any where on the field.

You're right, they evaluate and draft WR's as badly as we do DB's

Our secondary will make Coates look like an all pro. What's the over/under for catches, yards & TDs that Coates will have against our secondary week one?
