Why on god's green earth would they trade a 3rd round pick for a 6th and a 7th?

Interesting ,I thought he may be WR #6, maybe Hunter won that job ? Glad they got a pick for him. Will they try the same with Ross ?

If they got a 6 for Coates might get a 5 for Ross.

He was likely going to be cut.

Like I said I'm not big on it, especially in division, but Coates just wasn't good enough stacked up against our other WRs.

I was a Coates fan but he was going to be cut since we had too many WRs. Bad roster management there, but, whatever.

I knew DHB was safe and I was leaning towards Coates over Hunter for the 6th. spot . Coates never really showed much recently so I understand keeping Hunter over him.

Hunter outplayed Coates ikln pre season, no arguments there.

I do think Coates could bite us in the future. But whatever. We have some great WRs on our team.

Looks like Martavis was dead on with his Day 2 of the draft prediction.

Actually I think we traded Coates and a 7th for a 6th in return as opposed to what was stated in the OP.

The Cleveland Browns reached an agreement Saturday to acquire wide receiver Sammie Coates and a seventh-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a sixth-round selection in the 2018 draft.

Cleveland announced the deal. The Browns had acquired the sixth-round choice they sent back to the Steelers from Pittsburgh for cornerback Justin Gilbert last September.

Stupid move when coupled with the release of Ayers as well.

He was a 3rd rounder and younger than DHB and Hunter. He's show to have some good YAC and if they didn't force long balls to him with broken hand.

7th round pick really didn't give away anything since they're going to pick last anyway. Could just sign free agents.

Tucker had 1 good game against 4th. and 5th. stringers. We have way to many selfish players on this Team to cut one of your only Team leaders . You can stop the hate DHB is on the 53 and will be active as long as he is healthy.

If he was going to be cut, he would've never made it to the PS. Question is, would they have been given a compensation pick if he would've been picked up and started somewhere?

Good luck to him and I hope it works out for the Steelers. I am still not sold 100% on Bryant staying clean.
