Does anyone know offhand if there's a period of time between the cut deadline and when we can start signing guys to the practice squad?

    SEPTEMBER
    Sept. 2
Prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, clubs must reduce rosters to a maximum of 53 players on the Active/Inactive List.
Simultaneously with the cut-down to 53, clubs that have players in the categories of Active/Physically Unable to Perform or Active/Non-Football Injury or Illness must select one of the following options: place player on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform or Reserve/Non-Football Injury or Illness, whichever is applicable; request waivers; terminate contract; trade contract; or continue to count the player on the Active List.
Sept. 3 Claiming period for players placed on waivers at the final roster reduction will expire at 12:00 noon, New York time.
Upon receipt of the Personnel Notice at approximately 1:00 p.m., New York time, clubs may establish a Practice Squad of 10 players (the four designated clubs (NFC South) may sign one player to an International Practice Player Contract.) No club, including the player’s prior club, will be permitted to sign a player to a Practice Player Contract until all clubs have received simultaneous notification via the above Personnel Notice that such player’s prior NFL Player Contract has been terminated via the waiver system.

Hagen and Galambos will be signed to the practice squad I imagine. As Jacob Klinger is reporting, Dangerfield's injury must be minor enough to justify cutting Hagen.

Looks pretty good for Watson to make the 53 as presumed.

I hope so on Galambos - like what I've seen from him in general so far this preseason.

Galambos reminds me of Jerry O, well maybe not as good as Jerry O.
    Go PITT.

imo they keep dhb because of his special teams abilities. Not sure about Coates. We are very deep at WR.

IMO, the first name on this list should have been Senquez Golson.

If they put him on IR they can prolong the agony for even more time that way we get full amount of suffering before cutting him.

Why wouldn't we wait til the last minute to cut McGee, or anyone we wanted on the PS?

Wouldn't this give other teams less time to "discover" our more valuable cuts---or is it, most players are on someone's radar or they are not?

article on NFL.com yesterday talked about the logistics of doing all the cuts at once. you have to cut 37 players and GM's owners and coaches like the personal touch so they want to tell them in person, then the support staff because teams still arrange transport to the airport or where ever they are going so you have to have them all there yesterday through today. So as much as teams might want to try and sneak someone through, there is going to be a time crunch

Probably better to cut the guys you want back early as other Teams are cutting .I would say that approach is so many guys getting cut and Teams with not enough time to filter them all and hope your guy slips through.

Teams could be thinking like you wait til the last minute as this guy is close to the 53.By that logic said player would draw more interest and be at a bigger risk of getting snagged IMO .

Love when guys make these sort of statements about a job offer especially guys that haven't really shown anything through camp.

I agree. If a Steelers PS offer is the only offer on the table, he'll come to his senses and sign it.
