I remember when Bill Cowher was hired. The Roonies told him he could hire who ever he wanted for running backs coach, as long as it was Dick Hoak.

Would have liked to have seen Cowher and Ward on there.

    In time.

They said Ward didn't meet the three year requirement. This being the third year for him.

Have they said the evaluation process for this? Is it largely based on accomplishment? I'd like to see some guys get in just because they were true Steelers.

A guy like Aaron Smith comes to mind.

You'd like to imagine the inaugural class are the obvious ones that have to be in, then they can add more of the true Steeler types who'll never make the HOF over the following years.

I don't know if they will, but that's what I'd like to see.

Bill Nunn is a glaring omission from the contributors category. Without him, there is no Joe Greene, and probably not the Seventies dynasty.

Kevin Greene is one of my favorite Steelers ever but I was sorta surprised to see him on there since he wasn't really here for all that long. What was the criteria though? This is the first time I'm hearing about this. I need to see Heath added and like yesterday. Also Fanneca.

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous that they don't have the only guy who has returned an INT for a TD since 1974 on the list! I mean Joe Greene makes the list and HE doesn't? People are idiots man.

The criteria is that each player "must have played for the Steelers for at least three years, compiled noteworthy career highlights, records, or achievements, and be retired for at least 3 seasons. Coaches and administrators are considered based on significant contributions to the team and community," per video on the Steelers app.

I think that before coming too critical about omissions, one needs to remember that this is just the first class, and that just about every name mentioned on this thread that did not get in, will be in there at some point.

Kevin Greene got in because he is a Hall of Famer, and one who identified himself as a Steeler when he was elected. Otherwise, I agree, there are guys not in yet- like Greg Lloyd- who had lengthier and more significant Steelers careers. The name left off that surprised me a bit was Cowher, but I suspect they only wanted to put in Noll as the sole head coach (believe me Walt Kiesling sure is not there, or in the Hall of Fame, because of his Steelers coaching!).

God damn Jason Gildon has to be the most under appreciated player in Steeler History. ALL-TIME SACK LEADER ... and a franchise with how many great players we have had?
I mean ... I like Greene and Lloyd ... I do, but Gildon did it here longer and at a high level with little drop off.
