    This is true.

I am just in the majority of those in fear seeing someone like Brian Allen getting nabbed up. :smiley1:

Call this "Post Traumatic Josh Mauro Syndrome" for me. :lolol::drinks:

Yes, I have memories of Mauro and to a lesser extent the tackle from Vandy whose name eludes me. Would Allen be safe to stash on the PS? Maybe. I think the risk is non trivial.

Interesting they both have been steadily improving and given another year might be worth taking a look at in FA, Wesley Johnson and Josh Mauro that is.

For every Josh Mauro, there is a Travis Feeney. Practice squad poaching, especially with the new, single cut down day, is more myth than reality.

i would love to keep feiler as i think ramons days are numbered. i would like a homegrown guy in waiting. just not sure they will.

top 5 as in heyward, tuitt, hargraves, walton, alualu.

they drafted one and brought in one FA, so it seems we are still looking. i think he brings more as a wr and i do believe at some point there will be an injury. i don't remember many years without one at wr. mann can work wonders with receivers and at DHB's age he doesn't offer a lot of future. bryant will be up for contract in a couple, so will eli. just thinking future.

Could a team simply add said player to 53 man roster briefly and then move to practice squad?

i think it's 3 weeks on their 53 if nabbed. last year was mahalik. we then signed him back when he was again cut. allen offers too much to us at this stage. we sure are not loaded with can't miss corners especially at that size. too many big receivers becoming the trend anymore and speed TE's. i'd keep him if at all possible.

I wasn't confusing the TWs I was just responding to Macs mentioning of hm as making the roster as a PR....

I hear what you're saying about the TEs but I strongly believe DJ will be a phone call away as he was a few years ago when we needed TE help....

I'm not sure DHB has done anything this preseason either. I'm just trying to hang on to the younger talent with more upside that he proved last year when Coates was healthy . I hear what your saying though....and you will probably be right inevitably....

    My mistake on TW

DHB is excellent on special teams, he's a huge part of our excellent punt coverage, allowing Berry to boom kicks

I know ....like I said you will probably end up being right....the trade for V McDonald just blew up the TE room huh?...

Maybe the first time in History , but me and RPO agree on this . Giving a returner even a 2 extra yards of space can create big returns . If DHB is cut we will be giving up double and triple that and Teams will be better on returns because of it .

The punt game has probably been our best phase of the game to date this season why would you risk messing that up to keep a WR who won't get much run at the spot anyway ?

I was thinking Finney would take Ramon's LG spot eventually, but I like how Feiler has played this preseason.

    RB I like.....
WR I understand what you did... I'm about to lose Hunter too but not Coates..... Vanilla play calling masks his value.... Hands look 100% better catching ...
OL--- don't want to lose Feiler either... 9 is a stretch
TE.... 4 too much, cut one. Choose DJ, Grimble redeemed himself
DL---- thought? Do we really need 6? Maxey? PS him and or Hooks
CB--- agree Allen hasn't shown enough... If someone nabs him then they nab a underperforming CB... With potential
Safety- do I Need to say it??

They've never gone with only 5 DL in the Tomlin era... in my recollection. It's worth exploring, because you're right, that 6th spot is one of the weakest on the entire 53

Coates hands don't look any better to me. I don't get the fascination with Coates... I mean, i get that 3-4 week stretch early last year... but that's it. It's like 4 plays.

Yes, but his drop off in production coincided with his injury. I agree he hasn't shown that he will return to that form yet, but they have waited this long, might as well give him a quarter of a season. If he hasn't returned to form by then, hopefully Shuster can step up. And if he does return to form, he would provide an excellent insurance plan in the event Martavius or AB goes down injured, and Shuster can continue to push Eli for the slot position.

i don't doubt that and we then need a backup G/T which feiler can be. things could very well change on this line in the next couple of years. ramon retiring. pouncey possibly hanging em up when ben does. finney has worth as the backup C/G also. hawkins is in waiting and we will see about hubbard getting re-signed.

Coates---- last year he started to show us what we all have been waiting for... Then the injury and a season of misery.

If game 3 is the warmup game hyped and expected we're in trouble. We should have had a 24-7 lead at halftime with the talent we have. The play calling and even execution was as vanilla as possible.

Hands---- he's catching the ball cleanly, solid grip with no bobbles. That's all I need to give him 1 more chance to shine. Risk reward....

I just think this is kind of a myth... last year he made 4 splash plays.... that's it.

He was lighting up defenses then had a catastrophic injury to his hand.....

If it's truly healed and he mentally is passed it and is showing he can once again catch and secure the ball he is worth giving another chance.

He wasn't "lighting up defenses". He ran a few successful go routes... like I said, the myth is impressive.

He had a 43% completion rate on balls thrown to him.

He managed a measly 6 Red Zone targets for 15 yards/1 TD

He's caught 4 passes in the preseason, with a long of 8 yards... hard to say he's proven to be back to his mythical self. Meanwhile, all the reliable sources were saying Hunter was outperforming him in camp...

Sammie Coates did nothing to make the 53
