    Where are they?

Why does everyone love them so much when they have shown NOTHING in preseason? NOTHING!

A bunch of cry babies, always hurt.....loved for just being "nice" on paper.

Oh and if JuJu keeps this up, he is going to need a walking cane.

I don't think either made a case to win a spot tonight . Was 2 dogs 1 bone as you pointed out it very well could be no bone .DHB made some solid blocks tonight was the first down on punts and he didn't drop any i don't think.

I think his spot is safe, they may still keep 6 , but I think you are spot on with the 5.

I think if both were playing with Ben for a full game you would see what they can do.

Agreed. Neither has done anything to earn a 53 man spot. Meanwhile Feiler and Watson have made the case to keep 1 more than we normally keep at their position.

Perfectly happy to go with 5 WR

And Ayers really hasn't played all preseason. So where does he fit in?
Wow it is going to be a tough cut for our WR &HC to make. I must ask again,
can we improve our team by packaging any of these players for secondary help?

Coates didn't do much to help his cause last night, but Hunter did even less. Coates wins the tiebreaker (if they are tied at this point) because the Steelers drafted him. DHB is the best gunner they have.

Yup. Coates has actually been disappointing but one thing I keep noticing is that he keeps getting open. He's just gotta start catching more balls.

Coates is the most tradeable IMO, he's young and cheap package him with a future draft pick is what I would do.

When do you think he will magically begin to be able to catch the ball all of a sudden?

O.K. with the skill our young RB'S are showing the man to trade would be Bell. I would trade him for a man CB or a good Ball Hawk Safety and a high draft pick.

This would help fix the D for 1 last run for Ben and it would give us ammo to move up and target our future QB or another top DB if Ben decides to stay longer .

What young backs? Connor is the only young guy likely to make the team. Davis is a veteran who has been around a while, even started some games for the Chiefs.

I like Watson, too, but you have to remember most of his work came against guys who will be on the bench or on the street when the season starts. I'm guessing Davis solidified his place with the team last night.

It is important to remember the coaches aren't just looking at the preseason games. They are judging these guys every day in practice. They like what they have seen from Hunter there and he played well against the Falcons.

Coates was a big part of the offense early last season, so there is reason to see if he can do that again. Heyward-Bey is what he is, a guy with great speed and special teams player who can't catch. I'm guessing Coates is the one who makes the team because he plays special teams and Hunter does not.

You are right on with that 5. So many people don't like DHB, but he is a great blocker and solid special teams player.

I want Coates out of Pittsburgh. If we keep six, I think Justin Hunter will be the sixth.

It looks terrible right now. That's for sure.

But the guy did have 400+ yards and 2 TDs in the first 5 games last year.

There's something there but unfortunately it just comes in flashes.

He's like a rich man's Limas Sweed. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I would like to give him 1 more season.

Yup. Sammie was a asset to this team before his injury. People ignore that.

Also, IIRC, he had a catch of 40 or more yards in each of the first 6 games.

If anyone still have it on DVR, notice when Justin Hunter scored his touchdown against the Falcons, the entire team that was on the field was excited & congratulated him except "1" player ....Sammy Coates. I watch all snaps. I don't think I have ever seen Sammy congratulate his teammates when a positive play is made. My wish list is:

    1. Brown
    2. Bryant
    3. Rodgers
    4. JuJu
    5. Heyward-Bey
    6. Hunter

    Ps... Ayers & Hamilton

I dont think we should keep a WR that cant catch and that his only asset is special teams. DHB brings nothing to the table. Coates has potential to be special and DHB, welll, he will never be special. Coates has more upside than DHB and is more physical than Hunter. Here are my picks to make the 53 in no particular order.

    1. AB
    2. Bryant
    3. JuJu
    4.Coates
    5. Rogers
    ========
    *6. Hunter

Practice squad Ayers and Hamilton even though I think both will not clear and will be picked up by another team.
Cut DHB as his time is done and if we need a special teamer who can run and tackle, they are literally a dime a dozen.

You believe that a player who hasn't practiced very much in training camp, and hasn't played a down in pre-season will be claimed by a team, knowing they have to cut a player to sign him?

I think we are past thinking Coates will be "special." He simply can't catch or track the ball.

I think the Team should keep 6 .I would give Coates another year to heal and learn . I would not force him into play unless he was needed . Let him work with AB let him get more healthy let him become a true student of the game and see what he has next camp or later in the season if needed.

Don't force him out or force him to play at a high level at the moment .Give him just a bit more time and see if his route running, hands, knowledge of the game and confidence can increase.
