Weird how they didn't start having it rough until his career was about to hit the skids though. Also weird how he wants to protest "oppression" but wears shirts with dictators on them. That would be like me protesting slavery by wearing a shirt with Nathan Bedford Forrest on it. The guy is a moron and that's the bottom line. I still fully support his right to make a complete fool of himself though. My favorite way to use the First Amendment is to call people of his ilk the complete intellectual bottom feeders that they are. I'm sure he's fine with that since he's a hardcore originalist to the Constitution who has probably no doubt studied the Federalist Papers and Madison's other writings ad nauseum. I'm sure he's also a student of Shelby Foote and has studied the American Civil War til he knows it like the back of his hand too.

We all come to self-realization and activism in our own time and our own pace. I never gave the Oklahoma City bombing a second thought until I was in OKC visiting my niece and nephew and we went to the Memorial and was so moved by it that I try every year to mark the anniversary and speak on the subject as much as I can. Kapernick is very active in charitable causes and donates millions of his own money to them but doesn't seek recognition for them so maybe he was speaking out on racial equality and it wasn't gaining attention or forcing a grand debate. Maybe he was feeling upset about his career and decided to speak out. I don't know and can't speak beyond my own experiences and I'm not offended in the least and if he wants to spark a national debate I'm glad to participate.

Well maybe soon he will come to the realization that Fidel Castro was an evil scumbag and then I can take him seriously. I 1 million percent support the right to protest but not in a Steeler uniform on the Steelers dime. I would totally support owners telling people they can either stand for the anthem or not play for them. Sorta like the way I fully support TTF's ability to say that I can come here and post as often as I would like but I can't come here and share my sermons from every Sunday and Wednesday. Is he violating my Freedom of Religion by restricting me from doing that here?

What I find really interesting and I haven't investigated its validity yet but I saw something about how historically the NFL didn't even have the teams on the field before a game during the National anthem, they were still in the locker room. It changed when the Department of Defense made a huge donation to the NFL and asked if they could put on shows of support for the troops during the halftime show. I'm sure it has some basis for truth if it isn't true but makes you think.

Yeah that thing about the DOD is was pretty recently uncovered. Also some senators have complained about the NFL being able to blackout games from local markets when certain teams get public funding for their buildings and things like that.
