Gonna be interesting to see if he beats Jones out of the #2 spot this season...

    -------------

"Whereas some young players tend to cut veterans off mid-sentence, trying to prove they know something they don't, Heyward-Bey said, Dobbs keeps listening.

"And that's big because some guys will try to beat you to the end of the sentence," Heyward-Bey said. "Nah, listen. And I think he's doing a good job of that."

Good to hear he is learning. He will get plenty of reps in camp and the preseason. And then, unless Ben or LJ gets hurt, he will be inactive for 16 games. Or whatever designation the 3rd WB gets.

I'm not surprised by this at all. The guy is literally a rocket scientist.

    Good to hear indeed.

Joshua could very well be Ben's backup depending on what happens over the course of these next couple of weeks should he show considerable signs of improvement.

Of course none of us will know that until the beginning of training camp but all signs are good thus far.

I'm pulling for him. He can't be worse than Landry (I know some of you love LJ), so I'm only hoping for good things out of Dobbs.

Like it or not, they are comfortable with LJ. He will the next man up if/when Ben goes down. Now next year, ....

 Landry Jones will be the #2 for the foreseeable future.

Dobbs will be #3 QB at best for 2017. Dobbs = Dennis Dixon, Tee Martin, Brian St Pierre

All 3 of those guys are better than LJ IMO..I would put Bell at QB and run the wild cat before I started LJ.....Sorry I just think LJ is a scrub and has pictures of Tomlin blowing a goat or something...

Landry Jones will be the #1 backup for the next 30 years. Like to see Dobbs progressing, but Jones will never be dethroned.

Never happen, let me know when he has the 700 pages of the playbook memorized, defenses will eat his ass up in preseason and read him into picks, just another rook like dennis dixon, nothing more and nothing less....

I'm sure the Steelers will give Dobbs lots of chances to earn the #2 spot. I don't think they are set on Landry. Even if he can't unseat Landry he will be on the 53 man roster for sure. But, if he's #3 guy, he will be not active for all the games.

I think he'll definitely take the #2 spot eventually but not at the start of the season.

Remember, its not just ability but the number of snaps they have to work with. He'll get the bulk of the work in training camp but once the season starts, his reps will fall between very limited to non existent during practice.

i don't know BF. people forget how well LJ played against the Pats last year. if it wasn't for a phantom holding call on hubbard he had another TD that could have tied that game even with gronk playing on the other team. our defense let that one slip away for us down the stretch more than jones did.

i think LJ stays #2 even after ben goes and then dobbs may jump him as the starter if he evolves, leaving us with a seasoned backup in LJ just in case. thats how i see this playing out. the then draft pick would then begin to be taught.

Well ok... Jones played decent ball for around 3 quarters. He turned into the invisible QB in the 4th quarter.

My prediction is that Dobbs is the #2 in 2018.

Landry Jones has -9 yards rushing in regular season games. Dobbs should beat him out of the #2 spot quickly. Ben moves better than Landry.

I did say should he show considerable signs of improvement. I never said it was a sure fire possibility.

Even if he does not become the number two this year, anything he learns in his trial by fire via preseason is gold.

I hope he lights it up and they can cut LJ...With the time with Ben limited we need starter capable BU'S ...No need to give LJ reps and knowledge he will never be a good starter...I would rather the Team have 2 new guys who may or may not become starter capable...At least then we are giving reps to guys who might be good enough 1 day..

If Ben goes down the season is all but over anyway so no need to carry a Vet BU unless he is much better than LJ..
