Pouncey missed a year and could not even work out for while... he was fine. Bryant sounds like he is ready to tear it up..

This is just anecdotal, but I seem to think that the 3rd and 1s have got worse as time has progressed. There were times when someone like Bryant would be absolutely out on their own, CB miles behind. That's a good time to try the bomb.

But towards the end of last season Ben was sending it deep when the CB was still fairly close, sometimes far too close. That's before you take into account Coates' fingers or DHB's hands. To my mind, Ben definitely got trigger-happy in those situations when a simple check-down would have kept the drive going.

Not really, only 1 team averaged 30 or more points last year and that was the falcons and only 12 teams scored more than 23 points average and 7 teams scored in the teens, and only 3 teams scored 25 and only 5 teams scored between 26 and 29, and 2 of those teams arizona and NO didnt make the playoffs and NO was the only team to score 29 average not to make the playoffs, so it appears the league isnt even close to consistantly average 30 points, so to set our expectations at 30 a game may not be reality, if they average 27 or 28 that will put them in the top 2-3 teams in scoring, and by the way Bens career avarage is about 22 points average per game total offense includes rushing TDs.......

All that hype MAC and still only one offense scored 30 or more points average last year and that was the falcons with 34, if all those stats were true you would expect 4 or 5 teams scoring 30 plus, the pats scored 28 points average, but that wasn't all Brady throwing since they scored 19 running TDs I just dont think this is the most explosive era in history, not based on the last 7 years of offensive scoring stats, later bro......

it has its ebbs and flows. rule changes are the biggest driver of the game changing and how its now played. protecting qbs is a biggy in this era. defenses catch up eventually. remember the west coast offense when it first arrived? the only thing that has retarded scoring is moving the extra point back. scoring is up right around 3 points average from just a few years ago. thats what the nfl wanted.

good qb's will fuel the scoring and keeping them uninjured and on the field more is a big part of it. now creating a different type of defender is in the works to counter some of the offensive firepower brought on. more shaziers and big fast safety types will become more of the norm for pass defense.

30 points a game average is huge and i doubt we see that but scoring is up and continuing up. you will always have teams that knock the average down but some of the better teams will continue to raise their scoring output.

Juju will make a difference on O.. Finney at guard was a positive for Bell yardage wise... Bryant is back.. big plus.. Green is a big question. If Jesse would run and not roll up and fall to the ground after his catches he would be a better weapon with some YAC.

We can't score late in games when needed to put Teams away..We also get out to leads early and then just stop scoring and allow others to get back in the game ...

We do have a great Offense it just lacks that special something ...I hope we can become that ..

I disagree. The offense is not great by any stretch of the imagination. In reality, the offense is somewhere in the middle of the NFL... around 14-16 out of 32.

The offense gets a lot of hype because of AB's TD celebrations and Bell's fantasy stats. The offense is good between the 20's, but they usually fall apart in the red zone and kick a FG.

I'd rather have a Top 5 defense and an average offense... like we had in '05 and '08 when we won Super Bowls. Now we have an average defense and a "critically acclaimed" offense that is average, too.

By Statistics the steelers offense ranked #7 overall in 2016, and the Defense ranked #12:

A lot of that #7 ranking is due to the movement between the 20's. The Steelers offense was excellent in that area. Problem is the big 800lbs. Gorilla in the room... RED ZONE.

They ranked 16 in red zone scoring, they were 72% red zone scoring at home but only 36% in away games which seems odd their percentage would drop that much in scoring on the road........

how about scoring TD's instead of 3's in the red zone? what was our % of doing that?

That percentage is based on TDs only, they ranked 6 in field goals averaging 2.7 FGs per game, my take away from their offensive production is they were a terrible road team last year in scoring and quite good at home in scoring TDs, but they need to change their road record this year or they are doomed to repeat that 36% average again....

Consistency, that is the key. Some games the offense was unstoppable, others it disappeared.

Out of 10 drives per game, I think it is reasonable for 7 drives to make it to the red zone, 4 to be touchdowns, and two to be field goals. That's 34 points per game, assuming extra points are tried and good.

Juju will be the starting Slot WR week 1. He is a much better WR than Eli Rogers.
