Long snappers are traditionally the longest tenured athletes on a team. So, chances are very good you'll be talking about this pick for years to come.

Now I'm really curious to see what we do in the 7th. It could literally be anything

Last time Greg went down, didn't JH long snap and get the punter's arm or leg broken?

Good lord, Holba is 6'5" 245lbs...and runs a 5.2 40. Not exactly blazing speed to get downfield and make tackles

Do teams even keep two LS on the roster? I don't know, to me the difference between having the best LS in the league and the worst is trivial, and if need be sign the best ubdrafted LS on Monday or the day after Warren gets hurt. It's a 6th rounder, I get that, but theirs no upside to drafting an LS vs some other long shot who might actually contribute.

I mean isn't there some corner or safety who suffered a severe injury during the season but who was otherwise draftable that we could have rolled the dice on in the 6th?

Some HWS freak we could attempt to turn into a player?

    Anyone at all?

Tomlin was tired of winning with Cowher's players

He had 2 more tackles than the cornerback we took in the 5th.

LS are not athletic in terms of running down the field. In fact, they are that huge dude getting juked out of their shoes on national TV from a return at least once a year. LOL

Their main job is to be unmovable and place the ball exactly where the holder wants it, It's really a unique and essential skill set.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I just remember James coming into long snap in a game and firing it over the punters head for a safety. Maybe a broken arm too. :lolol:

Giants game I think. Pretty sure we lost.

The Pats drafted long snapper Joe Cardona a couple of years back. It seems to have worked out well and with Warren's mandatory league minimum salary it kind of makes sense.

I don't think you draft a long snapper with the eye on the future.

Maybe they are cutting Warren. :hmm:

I'm actually surprised Smith is still in Pittsburgh. We haven't returned a Kickoff for a TD since 2011.

Back in the 70's' the draft had 17 rounds. Have that today and the networks could stretch the event into a week.

I find it interesting that none of these professionals have anything to say about players after the third round. Read SI's article about the steelers, no info. But come here and you find out how many career tackles a LS has.

Maybe we should draft another LS. Double dip in the 7th to get some competition in the room?

Ejuan Price and Elijah Lee off the board.

Oh well. Must be a reason they fell to the 7th.

How old is Warren though? He's been Mr dependable for YEARS. But, I can only assume the team knows what they are doing.

I'm more interested what the qb drafted means. They aren't carrying 4 qbs, so who gets the axe? I'd sure like to see what Mettenberger has to offer with this offense.

That is the only thing that would make sense. But wasn't Warren a recent FA? If they resigned him in the last yr or two, drafting a guy doesn't make sense. Assuming, of course, that there's no such thing as a "can't miss, can't pass on" LS.
