Well the Denver game was our loss because we let Sanders go... They beat us with Sanders and we could have been in the SB if we would have just paid Sanders.. That still pisses me off.

Agree. Don't like the reach for Conner either...could of used that comp pick to easily move up like you said. Maybe or FO didn't know you can trade comps now... I'm not optimistic about this draft at all except Watt. Do not like WR in the second when we have a proven history of developing later round guys . Like you said Sutton better pan out. Every couple of years we seem to fall asleep at the wheel in the draft and this in my gut feels like one of those years...

Picking at #30 is bad.. We picked solid players. We were in the AFCCG so that is our punishment.. We need solid depth and quality high iq football players to compete for the ring.. Plus we will be shopping the waiver wire all off season as usual...

Blast and I have gone back and forth on this and I feel some very good points on both sides. I love the story about Connor and I love the fact that he is a hometown boy but I do not like taking a RB here. I also want a RB more like Bell and less like Bettis, jmo. I look at the board and Mack, Williams(Jamaal & Joe), McNichols and McGuire are still there and we have no idea when Connor would have been picked but he might as well been there in the 4th. Don't get me wrong I am not hatting on this pick as I love the story and where this kid has come from, I just don't like the timing with all the value still left on the board.

I am very surprised we passed on King here and I would have much rather had Butt, Leggett, Jerome or Lawson instead of a RB. jmo

I'm so pumped that James Connor is a Steeler. I didn't think we would have to spend a 3rd to get him, but I am pumped none the less.

It's awesome because I watched him high school, college, and now he is a Steeler!

:lolol: Yeah, we beat the heck out of that horse.

Surprised no King, myself but al I can say is, the Steelers dont have him graded as high as some of us do and thats good enough for me. He's still on the board, maybe 4th rd

Im a Jake Butt fan but taking him makes no sense, you have him on the team with Jesse, if we take a TE it should be a seam guy.

Not a big Lawson fan and dont think they needed to double dip at OLB there.

Ok so this is the morning after and with some time away to think about day 2 here are my thoughts:

Round 2 pick 30 - Juju - Not gonna lie my heart was ripped out that Jones went right in front of us, that was my guy. With that said I was shocked we went WR, I know we have a need but not in the 2nd imo. I feel there were enough good talent out there to wait on this but I have to trust out front office.

Round 3 pick 30 - Sutton - I don't have much bad to say here I wanted a CB or S and we got it.

Round 3 pick 41 - Connor - Great story good kid hope he does well but I thought WR was to early and now RB I feel the same way. I also wanted a RB with more of Bell's skill set and there are still a few out there. I really thought Mack was our RB pick, wish the best for this kid and I will root like hell for him but I am not happy about this pick. Desmond King still there I would have loved him here.

Oh welly they are picked and they will put on the black and gold so good luck and I hope these guys bring us #7. Go Steelers!!!!! :herewego!:

I don't think there's alot of hate directed at JuJu the player. More the rationale for taking a WR in Round 2 with so many talented Safeties and Corners.

I agree with Hack, I think in 2017, JuJu has a minimal impact. Doesn't really help us beat the Patriots this year.

Starting to watch some more JuJu tape this morning. Seeing some red flags. 8 of his 10 tds came from 3 games against subpar competition. He got shutdown by good secondaries like Alabama and Washington.

Lol yes we did......You are right about Butt I think we talked about this in the mock draft thread. I really like Leggett he has a nice blend of size and speed. Also another name that may be on the Steelers list as a Green fill in is Billy Brown WR turned TE kinda fits the Green mold.

As for Lawson I wouldn't have been surprised if the Steelers picked him in the 1st since they meet with him. If you told me we would have picked a RB and a WR in 2 of our first 4 picks I would have called you nuts so a double dip here at OLB would not surprise me.

Another guy I really like is Lorenzo Jerome S very good ball skills and here in the 4th would be a very nice pick after missing out on..........Jones :cry::cry:

@SteelHack@SteelHack I always remembered you pounding the table for Browner. Back then nobody was drafting 6'4 corners. But living in Canada I got to watch Browner play alot.

@RPO IZSB@RPO IZSB what was your handle on the old board?

I've been doing the draft stuff since 2005. Always a passion of mine. Get some right, get some wrong. I would pay a million dollars just to sit in with a team to see how the whole draft process plays out.

Look at a guy like Carl Lawson. I wasn't that high on him but I never expected him to slip to Day 3. Alot of people had him as a 2nd round pick. This is where teams know something that no online draft site or media publication knows or atleast see things differently.

I agree. Their vetting process is just so much more thorough than a fans and those sites can be, obviously. And speaking for myself, I dont start evaluating prospects until a couple months before the draft. Teams start at the beginning of the season, at least the Steelers do, according to a quote I read.

I think it shows that we still aren't 100% certain that MB can be counted on for the next 2 years to stay clean... it also shows that they aren't 100% certain that Coates is going to turn it around. Let's face it if MB tokes up again our WR corps looks bad. It's AB and a bunch of guys... we needed another guy to keep the doubles off AB.

If Marty can stay clean we will have the best all around WR in AB, one of the elite deep threats in the game in MB, and a bulldog possession WR in JuJu that will help move the chains and punch it in inside the 20. Then we have a combo of Rogers/Coates/Ayers/DHB/Hunter battling it out for 2-3 roster spots. That's a perfect scenario.

Why do you think JuJu isn't going to have much impact this year? I think he's he most pro ready guy and is probably going to have the biggest impact from this draft class. Watt should get some rotational snaps and Conner will get a few carries, but JuJu has a chance to be the #3 WR right away and whoever is in that spot is going to see some footballs thrown his way.

Rogers is his only real competition for the job. Ben is going to love having a big WR that can win the 50/50 balls in the red zone and on 3rd down.

Lawson's fall has to be because teams aren't optimistic about his medical diagnosis. He's a super talented pass rusher but if he's too hurt teams won't touch him. If he keeps falling maybe we take a chance on him.

Crowded WR corps. DHB is a ST ace of sorts so he's not going anywhere. Just signed Hunter. I think the tram is also high on Rogers and Ayers.

Remember JuJu is only 20, the youngest player in the draft. I think it would be a minor miracle if he catches 25 balls this year. Nothing against his talent, just the situation he is in.

Would love King but I can't see him lasting.

    We need another DB.

I like Jerome S from St Francis. Eddie Jackson from Alabama too.

I think Howard Wilson and Kazee are still available?

Always liked Ejuan Price. Do we take a 2nd Pitt Panther?

Elijah Lee, Inside backer from Kansas St.

I can't advocate for a TE at this point but Hodges and Leggett are still out there.

Picking at 30 is no excuse if our roster is so set and we are only picking for depth then trade up and get some players to fill the holes we so clearly have that mat actually help us get a ring. Waiver wire ,really?

Yeah, on NFL Network they simply flashed the pick at the bottom of the screen. Literally the first pick of the night that they didn't show being announced.
