He doesn't get separation, and his route running beyond bubbles and verticals needs work.

But he uses his body very well, to
Josh Jones went 2 picks before us...

and if we couldn't and somehow he wasn't there which I highly doubt we can pick up another RB who is just as good or better. What I really don't like is he's not a legitimate back up to Bell. He is a plodder who used his physicality against smaller players in college.....I will be shocked if it translates to this league. His story is phenomenal no doubt but that shouldn't be the reason why we took him so early. We are taking this character thing to ridiculous heights .

Sutton isn't. WR in Rd.2 was a terrible idea.

I wonder if they will ask Conner to drop some weight. Nobody runs like Bell, but Conner has a similar upright look to him. He finishes runs and has decent vision. He's not the athlete that Bell is, but dropping some weight could help.

He has had to deal with a brusied hip and some hand injuries in his final year (not much of a big deal).

Nobody gets carries in relief of Bell. If a guy like DWill can't get them what makes you think Conner will...preseason yeah because our starters don't play at all.

The Steelers obviously think he is capable of being a legitimate back up to bell. They certainly didn't spend a 3rd round draft pick on him as a charity case.

I understand not everyone see the same thing in players. It's totally fine to not like the pick. But the Steelers didn't just draft him because he has high character. We obviously thought he can develop into a quality back.

I love his story man how can you not but we are talking about the 3rd round for a short yardage backup RB. We could of thrown darts at the board for more secondary help and even more OLBs to try and find a steal...instead we took a one dimensional back up RB....

No. Bell is gonna get the goal line carries because he is going to get the TDs he has earned and not have some rookie poach all his scores. I bet
We give like 5-7 away. Bell deserves all those touches but he gets tired too. Plus bell has been hurt or suspended quite a bit in his career. Gotta have options.

Bell has missed significant time due to injuries, you dont see the value of having a RB that can step in?

Not if the game is close, I don't think anyone has ever said he will. Why would you take Bell out. But you can always substitute during the game. What would you rather have? - Bell in at every snap for RB for 15 regular season games and no playoffs or Bell in for 70-80% for all 16 and the playoffs? I'm generalizing of course, but I don't see how a competent back up hurts us. The value may not be reflected in the so called draft rankings, but if Haley subs him in smartly, the value for resting Bell makes up for it imo.

Like SGSteeler said, I think he can drop a couple pounds and be more effective. Saxson will get him ready.

    Versatility is Tomlin's M.O.

Getting AB to hopefully focus just on receiving duties may have played a role here.

If not, Cameron Sutton at the very least brings an edge with superb ball skills with him into the slot.

Cmon I can remember plenty of one sided games when we were screaming to get Bell out of the game...and if your gonna use DWills injury as a excuse then why not Toussaint he seems to be a Tomlin favorite...maybe it's because of his KO prowess....that's a story for another day....my point is Bell ain't coming off the field
So why waste a 3rd on a RB who isn't Bells co-pilot....idk man I'm tired and I just thnk there were other guys who could of provided way more value ...I want to be so wrong trust me...I'll take a deep breath and see how we finish is draft off. I just remember being a lot more excited about our picks last year even day one...

Yes I would love having a RB to step in for Bell but he isn't close to the same as Bell I want a guy who we don't have to change the entire O to accommodate his style..
