I think having TJ Watt paired with Bud Dupree, is going to be a great thing.

Not going to take much to put up more production than Jarvis Jones.

Having Harrison, Dupree, Watt, Heyward, Tuitt, Hargrave in the middle, along with Shazier

If everyone can stay away from the injury bug. This pass rush ability should be much improved.

So Abbott and Costello were wrong. Watt's on first not second.

He got good reviews from scouts and sports writers for this performance. Had atleast one huge TFFL and a couple quality pressures. At 3 mins he beats his man around the edge to get a hit on the qb while he's throwing to force an incompletion. The very next play he sees the LT dropping too fast so TJ bursts inside and blows right by him while slapping his hands away, a thing of beauty. If he played that just a hair slower he gets a sack there and finishes his first start with a TFFL and a sack.

Nothing wrong with being like "JJ" - provided the last name's Watt! ;)

Go back and edit out the parts where he is beating up on my Hawkeyes, and I would like this a whole lot better! I like the pick. Kid has a whole lot of motor and emotion. That combination was infectious at Wisconsin, and I believe it will be for our Steelers also.

But Pete Townsend was right when he said: Who's Next?

Watt confuses me. I see that athleticism in his combine numbers. I see the high motor, I read about the great work ethic. The one thing that I do not see is that 2nd gear that the great ones have and that I read that he has. We often read about the Bus having quick feet...or light feet....When I watch Watt I saw heavy feet. I don't have an issue over Watt the player. I would have taken Foster to man the middle. Watt has a lot of what you want in a young guy....and the sky is truly the limit.

My hope....he becomes the next Kevin Greene....can he do it....I think yes...he might be able.

My fear....he does lack that acceleration 2nd gear....and is the next Jarvis Jones.....a solid football player in a league full or solid football players....but never anything special.

That being said.....I bet he could be a very "Timmons like" pick... starting outside on the edge till he learns the defense...then being kicked inside next to Shazier down the road.

The high-motor outside linebacker with long arms I wanted was Takkarist McKinley, whose arms are a full 2 inches longer and has an explosive first step.

I don't want to question the TJ Watt pick, because I think his floor is a 4-6 sack player which would somehow place first on last year's team.

    So go TJ!

You would have to think that being able to train with his brother in the offseason and Mr. James Im a Badass Harrison for the rest of the year that this kid is going to have some good teachers.

I love TJ as a pick at #30, but JJ was already special when he came out. TJ probably doesn't have quite that kind of ceiling.

Love this pick. TJ is a great player and person. I got to watch him for the last few years in Madison play and having watched JJ play up here as well I've thought all year that TJ will turn out better. That said, I thought he needed to stay in school another year to get more strength. He's basically the exact same size as JJ, just not as strong.

Sign him up for the Silverback Gym this offseason and he'll be ready.

TJ reminds me a lot of Clay Matthews coming out of school. His combine numbers are eerily similar to Clay's

    Clay

    40: 4.67s
    Bench: 23 reps
    Vert: 35.5"
    Broad: 121"
    3 cone: 6.9s
    20 yd
    Shuttle: 4.18s

    TJ

    40: 4.69s
    Bench: 21 reps
    Vert: 37"
    Broad: 128"
    3 cone: 6.79s
    20 yd
    Shuttle: 4.13s

Hopefully he has a similar career to Clay. He was a pretty consistent 10 sack a year guy.

    What about this

Having Rivers, Dupree, Heyward, Tuitt, Hargrave in the middle, along with Watt and Shazier

Watch his tape some more, does he lack a second gear or does his length and stride length make him seem slower that he is?

Possibly the best press conference by a player after they've been drafted by us. T.J. Is well spoken and shoots straight.

I like the pick. I don't follow college football all that much but if he plays half as good as his older brother did then he will be solid player for years to come.
