As we approach the 2017 NFL Draft, another draft season is reaching the summit. However, this does not mean it does not have its own bumps.

As such, for the Steelers perspective, which prospects would you consider overrated or underrated?

Next question would be the the same as the former but instead of the Steelers, pick any prospect of your choosing.

I will have mine in a bit. Ready? Go!

How is Dalvin Cook overrated? He can be a 3 down back.

I agree on most, but disagree on Cook. I think he's got serious potential. Also, I haven't watched all that much of Humphrey, Tabor and Tankersly yet, so unsure on them.

The thing on Cook is I don't think he is a mid teens 1st round pick.

I think McCaffrey is a better option than Cook.

Cook didn't look that impressive at the Combine. He has a fumbling problem and has been arrested multiple times. I just don't think he's a 1st round pick when factoring OT all in.

Yep. Cook does not even crack my top 20 anymore either. McCaffery is eons ahead of him in what coahces look for in running backs nowadays.

Furthermore and on a side note, starting to see why Myles Garrett may not be as "transcendent" after all as the media portrays him out to be.

Had Jadeveon Clowney and Joey Bosa rated higher than him.

It's a shame we don't need DLine, Wormley seems like a can't miss selection. I ain't saying he will be a star, but he seems like he will be a solid player and have a long career.

Overrated: Jabrill Peppers, please do not draft him!!!

    For the Steelers - overrated:
    1. Derek Rivers in the 1st or 2nd
    2. Zach Cunningham in the 1st
    3. Any QB before the 4th or 5th round

    For the Steelers- underrated:
    1. Budda Baker in the 1st
    2. Jourdan Lewis (on the field) in the 3rd
    3. Marcus Maye in the 2nd
    4. Tarell Basham in the 2nd or 3rd

    Overall - overrated:
    1. Anyone at the #1 overall pick
    2. David Njoku (though I'm starting to warm up to him, just not as a 1st rounder)
    3. Dashone Kizer

    Overall - underrated:
    1. Tanoh Kpassagnon
    2. Budda Baker
    3. Sidney Jones (if he checks out medically)

I'm going to give an honorable mention in the (slightly) overrated category to both Jabrill Peppers and Obi Melifonwu. I think both would be legitimately good selections at #30, but that's about where I think they belong. Both guys have great potential, but I see both struggling early, especially with some of the expectations that seem to be out there that they're instant game changers.

I'm a huge Peppers fan and even I don't think he'd be an instant game changer. Most rookies aren't. He'd definitely have a learning curve in coverage and I'd expect some limitations to what he'd be asked to do early on. He would make some splash plays to make up for it though.

    Overrated for me are
    1. Leonard Fournette
    2. QB's
    3. Trading out of the first round
    4. Njoku

    Underrated are
    1. Desmond King
    2. Budda Baker

    reddick as a top 15
    cunningham in the 1st
    brad kaaya

    des king
    josh jones
    awuzie
    kazee
    ryan anderson

    daeshon hall

I think Ryan Anderson is underrated generally. He is a talented, hard-nosed SOB. I don't believe he is a 1st rounder, only because of his physical limitations. But, I'd love this guy in the 2nd. Pittsburgh would love this kid.

Very few are an immediate upgrade. I haven't seen anyone beating that drum about Peppers. I look at all draft picks the same in that I don't expect things to start clicking until mid season.

I have to disagree about Fournette, think he will be big time.

Agree with pretty much the rest but if we do take a QB, hope its Dobbs late, think he is underrated.

I agree with the first paragraph, I was just alluding to another poster who said that he saw/heard expectations that Obi and Peppers would be instant game changers. I wouldn't expect almost any rookie to come right in and light it up. It doesn't happen very often.

Fair enough. I don't see Fournette as valuable because he doesn't strike me as an awesome 3 down back. 15 years ago he'd go top 5... I still think he will be a fine player (probably a quality starting back), just don't buy the hype that would give me reason to take him in the first.

I can buy Dobbs. I think every QB in the draft this year is a pretty big project. There's also quite a few guys who could have a pretty high ceiling though too.

i think you missed the point about obi/peppers being game changers for us SG. they could be game changers in how we run this hybrid defense and the options it brings to it.

Maybe so haha I totally agree tho. I think they would bring different things to the table, but both could potentially change how we play defense and take us to a new level

    Steelers overrated - Cunningham

    Steelers underrated- David Njoku

    Overall overrated- Cunningham

Overall Underated- Obi Melifonwu,( those who have him late 2)
Elijah Hood RB,- Being overlooked by far too many..... Pick him in the 5 and instantly have a #2 RB, good in pass protection, down hill runner between the tackles and better hands than given credit for.
