I think the steelers will draft the best available OLB or CB available. I'm sure they have ranked each OLB and CB on their board. Personally, I really like TJ Watt of Wisconsin. He looks like a very smart player and can be an immediate starter.

I think they may also throw S into the mix. Melifonwu would be hard to pass on.

Charles Harris would be too. Plus he is a junior.. Steelers like that.

I've watched every game of his that I can find on him on Draft Breakdown, Youtube and searching online. There are times when I think he looks like a KILLER outside rusher, and others when he looks pretty disinterested. He seems to run hot and cold. If I knew we were getting the good Charles Harris, I'd be all over him at #30. The individual interviews and discussions that the team has with coaches may be critical for the team to grade him.

He also improved his vertical jump to 37.5; up from 31.5 at the combine.

I would not be too upset with the pick but disappointed if Obi is still on the board.

must have been one of his "cold" days :lolol:. I am not a fan of Harris or some of the other hot/cold guys from previous drafts. Shilique Calhoun, Ogbah come to mind. Great skills but effort is hit or miss. Malik McDowell is another this year. Too much of a gamble in round 1 for my liking. Is the guy going to finally "get" it? Past behavior is a strong predictor of future behavior. I would take the less polished but high effort guy, but that's just my view.

As I stated, if Obi is on the board and Harris is the pick, I will be disappointed. I am not endorsing him by any means. :smiley1: All I am stating is that if he is the BPA option, then nab him.

Then again, desire and effort are key quantities of any player. All the more reason I would prefer someone like Lawson or Watt over Harris but only if BPA is being applied here.

I thought you didn't like Lawson? Was it the medicals or something else?

You are right. I do not like Lawson at all.

The only thing that warrants him consideration is his explosive capabilities in addition to what he can do if he is healthy.

Issue is, health is his issue... so I steer clear of those players unless there are extreme circumstances.

And God knows we cannot afford that at OLB. We just got rid of dead weight when we swung and missed with Jarvis Jones. We need another beast like Dupree

The second paragraph in round two pretty much sums up what I've been saying. I wouldn't say we are pigeonholed into OLB in rnd 1 but I would say we are about 85%. The talent at another position would have to be pretty big to overcome the need at OLB, especially if Watt or Lawson are available. I think Takk is probably gone when we pick and Rivers is not round 1 potential over Watt/Lawson. They haven't even sniffed in Charles Harris' direction if I'm not mistaken, so I'm leaving him out of the equation. I really think it comes down to Watt or Lawson on 1:30 availability.
