I dont know if any team can keep their defense on the field for 40 minutes and expect them to be fresh in the 4th quarter and in OT, the cheaters had the ball for 40 minutes including OT and the falcons had it for just 23 minutes in time of possession, that was the story line of that game and the poor falcon play calls on offense in the 4th quarter helped the cheaters score 19 points to the falcons zero points to go into overtime....

I really think Ayers not Coates should have been up fpr that game. Coates was just not a threat to catch and they shaded coverage on AB all game.

Absolutely horrible play call when you're already in FG range!

Run the ball or have a quick one read pass or throw away called. Hell they could have taken a delay of game after the Julio catch and still been in FG range!

Not getting the 3 points there was the difference.

Brady, Edelman, Amendola, Gronk play smarter then the defenses. they all have their routes down and change routes depending on the defense and brady hits them and expects them in the right route depending on the defense. they may not be speedsters and track stars but they play uber smart and win.

everyone of them avoids the big hit too. except Gronk, he loves it and he's hurt a lot.

They entice you to take a big shot then they break that tackle and go ape crap on you!

    ... :applaud:

I thought here I was the only one thinking this.

Someone like Bill Belichick is not going to commit such attention on a guy that was injured. Someone like Ayers could have helped for sure.

Yeah, and we were without the best RB in the NFL, our best defensive player, our #2 and #3 WRs, our #4 WR had to play with broken fingers, our shiny free agent TE was out. We were also down key players.

I'll just throw this out there. And yes, I know it's a lot of "if's"

We lost by 19. That's bad. 7 of those came as free points when Mitchel bit and left his man wide open for a free 7. If he stays in his area, that score probably doesn't happen. That can be fixed? Now we are down to a 12 point loss. Still not good. They were without Gronk. We were without Bryant, Hayward, Bell and Green. Add in growth from Burns Dupree Hargrave and Davis, and I think we can cover that 12 points.

As long as we have Tomlin, we should again be in the AFC championship game.

Steelers screwed up a long time ago around 2011... when they didn't draft players to beat Brady. Steelers have always drafted players to beat the Ravens and the Bengals. That's fine and great, but our defense is helpless against the Patriots and will be until either we go 4-3 and get faster on the D-line and/or draft corners/safeties that can play man coverage consistently. Patriots can be beaten. The Seahawks, Broncos and Giants have proven this over the years.

Don't understand why Tomlin won't entertain the idea of playing more man coverage. One article says we will and the other says we won't.
We shall see. If we want to go to the SB we definitely have to play man coverage. Not just against the Pats either. There's a few teams that throw little dump routes or screens against our zone and light us up. The Pats are the most notably, because they expose it the most. We make it so easy for Brady, because he knows we're not going to change to man coverage.

1/2 the plan was to keep brady on the bench... so lets throw on 3rd and 1

Nothing wrong with the third and 1 throw call. The receiver was open the ball was thrown ok. The receiver with broken fingers is another issue.

Ayers should have played... but the 3rd and 1 passing scenario was happening all year with poor results .

if bryant is back or justin hunter, i think this play will become a higher percentage for us. coates wasn't the guy to go to on those nor was DHB. we should be much better suited to do a lot more things with all of our receivers with these two added to the offense.

oh i know. this used to drive me crazy with how often we tried it. i'm just saying last year we should have tried it less with what we had on the field, but with the talent we could field this year we stand a lot better chance of winning that deep play. that takes guys out of the box too if we can do either.

Try it on most Teams just not NE IMO...Against a Team as potent as they are we must control the clock ..If we had a real defense then ok, but when they can play pitch and catch at will then the clock has to be controlled...
