I'm don't know fellas unless my eyes are deceiving me I see OLB being less and less important in today's NFL. Unless you have very good coverage in the back end the ball is getting released before there is time to get to the QB. Even the best pass rushers are only averaging a sack per game and I know about the pressures too. The best way is still pressure up the middle and in the QBs face. I agree our OLBs need a upgrade but we also need better quality depth along the DL. I like some of the young guys Walton , Maxey looks like he might surprise . McCullers hasn't done much and Matthews should be upgraded. We should be focusing on getting more DL that can rush the passer and giving them more opportunities to do so. We see how much of a difference Hargrave makes when he is getting into the backfield. I really like the idea of us being a D that can morph into different fronts along the line. I wouldn't mind adding some more versatility and athleticism to our DL with some tweener types....Kpassagnon does come to mind.

Against Brady I agree, with the steelers playing a zone Brady will always get the ball out fast. Unless the steelers jam at the line they wont disrupt Brady's timing just rushing him. secondary and linebackers that can cover are more important than a pass rush especially if Butler is only going to send 3 pass rushers.

I agree we do need an edge rusher, but for a 4 Linemen Nickel situation. Keisel was our DL Tweener for years.

To me the steelers should look at how the ravens play the patriots. The ravens have had success against them and their defense is similar. The one thing the ravens have always had are better corners and a consistent pass rush. I would like to watch a replay of the ravens pats games and see if they are playing man and jamming at the line or if they are playing more zone. I bet its man to man.

Nice list especially #2,3& 4. I have not seen enough of these players. Living in the PGH area
I have heard a lot about Jerome. Quick question is the competition they are competing against
a reliable source for production? I have seen Reddick play, he can play. We can ask Dirty Red about him LOL.

I really thought Kpassagnon and Jerome had good Senior bowls and that was my first look at them. The big hit on Kpassagnon is he may be built like Garrett but he is 3" taller at 6'7" and that is a worry for some. Reddick is reported to have one of the best weeks down there but he had a pretty quiet game. I have read a lot of people like Everett, nice list.

Even production by players in the Power 5 conferences are not reliable. You see guys fail from Ohio State as well as guys from East Carolina. Their level of competition is certainly factored into the equation but that's when the objective data can be helpful (40 times, 3 cone, etc). So many things factored in, that's why the draft is so unpredictable.

Earlier in this thread I posted that Carl Lawson has a bad injury history, but for some reason I was thinking he had two hip injuries. The first injury was an ACL, then he came back the next year and cracked a hip bone. He lost 6 games due to the hip. Not a great track record but better than what I originally thought was a recurring hip issue. Combine medical checks will tell a lot as always.

    Article explaining his injuries.

I agree with you a little Turtle, but SEC/ACC you are probably going to face more NFL capable players
than you would from the list of players from there respective conferences. Back to the million dollar question
due they transition to the NFL?

i like lawson but thats not good for an edge rusher that has to bend the corner in the nfl. we have too many guys now with injury problems. risk reward type. especially that early.

What round is he projected? Some of you guys wanting Watt in the first I don't see much of a difference in their game I actually think Dimick looks better. Seems like a smart player too. I have to admit I only watched some highlights but what stood out the most to me is his knack for deflecting passes...that's a turnover waiting to happen. I like his game but he may be limited in space.

there is a huge difference in dimmick and watts games. dimmick would be a mid or later round guy. your right about his limits in space but getting at the qb as a pass rusher he just produces. maybe time for a 3rd down specialist in the fold.

Yeah I wasn't trying to insinuate that Dimick is anywhere near a 1st round pick and I figured somewhere in the 4-5 range. Your right his production is there and I think he would be much better value at 4-5 than Watt at 1. Dimick kinda reminds me of a Ninkovich nothing flashy but gets the job done.

Dimmick is productive as hell. He's not flashy.. but he is a very good pass rusher. He sheds blocks very well.
