I was tallying up all the afc champions. I was trying to see how many teams came back the following year after losing the afc championship.

Steelers are 2-5 out of 47 years. So about a 15% chance of returning. They won 2 of those games after losing the previous AFC championship so that's a 4% chance of winning the afc championship next year, and about a 2% chance of winning it all after losing the afc championship the previous year lol.

The rest of the league went 21% as far as making it back to the afc championship game after losing the previous year. 10% of those won, 3/5 being patriots.

I think we regress and don't make it this year. AFC teams will be stronger and some other BS will stop us.

    Still on top though

Maybe we improve our pass rush and are able get off the field on 3rd and long.

Maybe we develop depth in our receiving corps and posses the ball better.

Or maybe we regress. One thing about it, they only have three options, get better, get worse, stay the same.

Last time they lost the AFC championship game, the next year they won the Super bowl

Interesting, isn't that the percent of Cowher's players that remain on Tomlin's team? :hehehe:

As of right now I think we regress. I'm sorry, but I think Harrison hits the wall next year,

I must disagree!!! We will be eager to get the salty taste out of our mouth, plus we have a pretty favorable schedule. This one's for Ben, Harrison and maybe Timmons send them out as Champions!!

Staying with our off-season story lines so far...

With a new starting quarterback, running back and number one receiver next year, we'll be lucky to break .500.

Right now Ben doesn't think they can beat the cheats and they never have in the playoffs as long as Tammy Bradys in their Bens going to be gun shy and ***** about everybody else if you have to hope and pray somebody else knocks the patriots out of the playoffs they're going to have a longer here than this one was yeah we went to the AFC championship game, since when is that ever been enough

We won't beat cheats in the playoffs with Brady and bill. It is what it is.

2005 broncos did it, 2008 tom was missing and 2010 jets did it.

That's all we can hope for

Can't say I agree. Defense against the Pats was a worthless effort. Soft zone blah blah blah... time to move to a 4-3. Can make that transition in this draft and with current personell imo.

We'll never beat the Pats without a HC who actually brings something to the table.

That's what the draft is for find a stud OLB, so Harrison doesn't have to play that many snaps.

We will never beat the Pats without a Team with some better DB'S on it ...As I stated in another thread the few times we went man we got burnt even quicker...We just don't have the skill to match up..

Bud Dupree didn't really come in as a rookie and have a monster year?

We still need to draft an OLB regardless, but in terms of chasing rings we need an immediate ramp up in pass rush next year. Unless Hargrave/Heyward/Tuitt become an unstoppable wrecking crew I don't know where that will come from outside of Free Agency? Even then there isn't any great edge rushers on the Market?

thank you. I said we just don't have the players to beat them. our offense isn't consistent enough to win a shootout either.

    1. hope for other teams to knock them off
    2. hope to actually improve on both sides next year
    3. or hope brady falls off a cliff and bellicheck misses the game to go to his funeral.

We will also be stronger and a lot of that will come from this years 3 defensive rookies and a full year of Bell. There is no reason we should not repeat as a participant in the AFC championship game. That's the easy part.

We just need to do what needs to get done to best NE. That's the hard part.

They don't need the rookie OLB to have a monster year, they need him to contribute though. Dupree will probably get close to double digit sacks next season, based on the progress he showed after returning from injury this past season. Butler has shown he can be creative with the pass rush by getting 48 sacks in 2015, and the second half of this season. Except when the Steelers play the Patriots Butler decides to play a soft defense .

nah pats pretty much just exposed our smoke and mirrors defense.

We don't have the talent yet, our D's stats were exaggerated from facing bad qb's, drops, etc. Don't get me wrong, its a good d but when you play Brady and Bill they scheme so well so they will attack every weakness and expose the wannabe's lol
