Why should he worry about any kind of back up or replacement that is just another thing that Tomlin is letting slip by.

I think this is embarrassing. Ben is acting somewhat like a baby. He's not going to retire. Not a chance. He lost and now has his panties in a wad.

No, what's embarrassing is videoing a locker room celebration and then saying you got caught up in the moment only to find out later that you signed a 6-figure deal to do it. Then you do next to nothing against NE in the AFC championship game.

I've read too many places that Ben doesn't like Haley's play calling. That shouldn't surprise anyone here because during gameday most of the posts here question Haley's play calls. Not doing a QB sneak was moronic and Ben called him on it. Guess what? When you have had a HOF QB career you've earned the right to be frustrated with crappy play calling. He doesn't have much time left and like any vet, he wants to win another SB before he's done and realizes that the way things are now, it's not going to happen. Ben has won 2 SBs and will be wearing a yellow jacket. Haley has done nothing and a lot of it. I'll take Ben. Now is when I wish Tomlin would actually coach and either fix his coordinators or replace them.

If I'm being 100% honest AND speculative I will go so far as to say that neither Ben NOR Mike like Haley. Although I will say that Tomlin definitely stood up and took the heat over the whole Ben throwing late in the Miami game and in his presser he literally said "SO DON'T ASK TODD ABOUT THIS LATER!" One thing about Haley is he is on record as flat out saying that he prides himself on going off on his players and I'm sure he's not nearly as buddy buddy with Ben as BA was.

Ben will come back next year. I don't think he was really pointing any fingers at Haley. Who I think he's pointing fingers at is the immature players on our team(AB) and Tomlin (because he's called him out a few times this year). Bens statement about retiring should make everyone on the team and staff grow up and cut the crap, cause if ben leaves, no one is getting a ring for some time in the black and gold

Haley too busy looking at future partners for his wife, on the field. Ok that was bad lol. We just make silly calls as a team sometimes, Ben included

I blame the receiver more than I blame Neil on the INT. He was suppose to turn in , he saw an opening and decided to run up the line instead, the ball was already in the air.

For the life of me, I just can't imagine Ben retiring this year and leaving this franchise like that and in choas. it would take years to get where we are now. i just can't imagine that. The time is coming sooner than we think, and like many of us have said, we need to start looking now or no later then next year for his replacement.

Also the Rooney's need to listen and do what they have to in free agency, trades, resigning, and drafting as this window is closing fast, and that's the message Ben is saying. i would be shocked if he retires just like this.

Or he's angling for a trade. Maybe he wants to be reunited with Arians in Phoenix? Planting the seed that maybe he's retiring to make them think he doesn't have long left, or they need an alternative. Just a thought.

can't imagine him going to Arians in Phoenix. That would be a quick way to end his playing days with the hits he would take.

The QB class in this draft is mediocre at best, mostly run and shoot QBs so so prospect 1st rounders, they dont fit the mold to play in this division, wait a year or two untill USCs Sam Darnold comes out and draft him, no one peaks my interest in this draft at QB this year.....

Only way we get Darnold is:

    1. Ben retires next year
    2. We suck the year after and go 2-14
    3. ???
    4. Draft Sam Darnold

I think there is very little chance that he retires. Dumb comment to make to the media . He should keep that crap in house. I think the fact that he was only sacked 17 times this year and he remained healthier than most years will bring back. Plus, I dont think Deebo will let him retire they have a very good relationship and if deebo is coming back I just dont see Ben hanging it up..

Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald are saying the same thing publicly, are they dumb too, good chance Fitz don't return, palmer i'm not sure about but he was beat up pretty good last year and there is a very little chance the cards will make it to the SB next year, so both could very likely retire, I would say Ben is 50-50 on coming back, he has nothing left to prove.....

Mike Martz was the Rams head coach that year. Dick Vermeil retired after the Rams super bowl win vs. Tennesee 2 years prior.

I respect Ben's toughness. Guy is a warrior and does whatever necessary to win. You could tell how upset he was after the game. He really wanted to beat the Pats.

With that said, he does come across as a diva ( Ala Favre).

You're right, but you also just described almost every team in the league. You just can't have a team full of stars, it's not realistic. If the WR's aren't that good, that's when you need excellent QB play and coaching that puts them in a position to succeed.

That is very true however I was only speaking about the Steelers in general. And when I say unproven I am talking about even receivers like Wheaton who are not rookies but intitially looked like he was going to be one of the good ones. Now not so much. Green is looking like a lost cause.. Bryant is a ? mark. Ayers and Rogers are both ? marks. Rogers and Ayers both have shown flashes and then stumble back to look like just ordinary receivers. And lets not forget DHB . He is a special teams player at best. We have in our midst perhaps one of the best QBs and we still cannot make it to the show. Disappointed is a huge understatement

The day Ben does retire, if you didn't know how bad a coach Tomlin was by now, you will see it once Ben is gone. At least Cowher fielded some good teams without a HOF quarterback. Welcome to the 1980's
