I understand he's frustrated with the locker room and the off the field stuff but he has to remember he was young once too. He has had more than his fair share of bonehead mistakes and bad performances on the field as well,so there reall is no need to be calling guys out. I just don't like the snide comments about play calling when he has made some bad decisions changing plays too. He has defended the 3rd and short go long philosophy and that hasn't proven to be such a great thing. Look I know we are screwed without him but he shouldn't throw too many stones....there's still a lot he can do to make this offense click more efficiently.

There's no way Ben walks way from 54 million and I don't think he'd do that to his team or the fans. He's just frustrated and is trying to let the front office know they need to make some changes. However, we should be looking down the road for a QB because he could retire in a 2-3 years and we need to be ready. I'd draft a QB in the next couple years and let him learn from Ben and hopefully take over when he retires. I'm a FSU homer, but their freshman QB looked really good, especially in the second half of the season, and will only get better. He was constantly getting hit and kept getting up and coming back for more. Much like our own Ben. I'd keep my eye on him. Or I'd go after Deshaun Watson from Clemson if they could make it happen.

Wonder what Mettenberger could do on a good team?

Regardless if Ben is serious or flexing his muscle as some are speculating, its time to start looking for a replacement. He will definitely be back next season barring any physical reason why he couldn't but still need to start the search now.

Next franchise QB will be drafted, not going to be a trade or FA signing.

Some have said this isnt a good draft for QB's but prospects always start turning up.

If Ben is only playing 1 or 2 more years I say sell the farm and go out and get some free agents!

    ITS NOW OR NEVER!

Ben deserves at least one more ring IMHO.

If we get 1 or 2 more rings I can deal with the aftermath of cap hell for a few years as we look for a new QB.

This better light a fire under everyones ass this offseason. I hope everyone is that more motivated to get #7. I believe Ben will come back next season, but it will be his final season, maybe 2 more depending on the circumstances. If Bell, Brown, and the rest of em want a Lombardi, next season is the best shot they have. If I dont see 100% from EVERYONE in the Steelers organization next season, it will show the true divide in the locker room, and lack of having a grip on your team(coaching.)

you had me until the solid wrs comment. He has AB and thats it right now. If MB comes back then he has a good #2.. The rest of the WRs corp is unproven if you ask me.

Honestly I feel like him speaking out IS showing leadership. I think it's him saying to Bell "quit being a freakin' entitled reject in the offseason" to Bryant "Hey moron if you would quit being a selfish thug in the offseason I might have had someone to throw to this weekend so yeah you DO owe me an apology" to AB "Maybe I'll just go and you can see how much crying you do over your stats when LANDRY is throwing you the ball" to the front office "if you want to keep giving me sub par defenses to play with then what's the point of me sacrificing myself anymore?" to Tomlin "if you don't trust me with this offense after all my years in the league and you want to let Haley micromanage me then I'll just let you micromanage Landry and see where that gets you". Even if this is a red herring to get their attention I actually appreciate the fact that Ben is doing this because this is a far cry from the idiot riding a motorcycle without a helmet and having hotel relations in Vegas like something out of a Coen brothers spoof on the The Big Lebowski or hooking up with ditsy sorority chicks in GA bathrooms. SOMEbody has to lead this team! You have coaches getting arrested for bar fights REGARDLESS of who's "at fault". You have MULTIPLE stars getting suspended MULTIPLE times for the SAME thing. You have a diva WR getting fined for violating league policy MULTIPLE times a year. It's time that someone seriously takes the reins of this team and if it's Ben then so be it!

He has a better chance of playing catch with his kid than he does with Coates or Hamilton regardless of his health.

Ben is a leader, 100%. He wasn't always but has taken that roll in the last 4 or 5 seasons or so. But Ben will always be damned if he does or damned if he doesn't. He gets ripped apart for the most ridiculous things and some won't give him an inch and never will.

I know man but I'm telling you this if you take Ben off this team right now we're in for some severe pains. I reaaalllly wonder now if they're not gonna at least THINK about a qb early this year if they feel that Ben might be trying to tell them something. And not a freakin' Landry type guy but a legit qb that could be a starter in this league. I'm not even gonna think about calling someone Ben's "replacement" because in my mind he'll never be "replaced". He's a special kind of athlete that we have been lucky to have. If pretty boy Brady or Manning would have been behind some of the lines that Ben has been behind in his time they'd be mere footnotes at this point. The dude has given his all to the Black and Gold and that's more than half the rest of idiots on this team can say.

Pete just won a Super Bowl and took them down to the wire in a back to back attempt. We got spanked by a JV roster while having the "best" WR and RB.

I'd be shocked if Ben isn't in camp come August.

But, I do think he sending a msg. Though I'm not sure to who.

To Tomlin? Earlier this year he supposedly spoke with Tomlin about getting more discipline in the locker room during the losing streak. Maybe he didn't feel heard.

To Haley? A play for more say in the offense?

To AB and the young guns? Get your heads from your butts and take your job seriously?.

I think Ben is reminding everyone that he feels his window is closing. I never saw him as a guy who'd play at 38 or 40. He's taken a beating, has had his share of concussions, has won a couple of titles and has cashed a $100MM worth of pay checks. He'd probably like to have his wits at age 55, too. He'd like to win again, but if he doesn't feel like his team mates or the organization share that goal sufficiently, he's reminding everyone that he can walk.

if you can't beat em, join em. Patriots are shopping jimmy goropollo, I personally would love to have a young veteran who learned from Brady and coach b. Ben ain't walking away, but if he does I'd love to see this happen. Jimmy is better than any qb in the draft

I am not trading with the Pats for what I have heard is at least a 2nd round pick ....Ill take EJ Manuel as a free agent....and start looking to the draft in 2018....as we would be in the top half.

I would go after EJ to be Bens backup no matter what happens.

I kinda hear what your saying and I get him being frustrated by off the field stuff......but remember he was in their shoes once and maybe even worse. He has done some really stupid **** putting himself in positions that were a lot worse. We don't have to rehash them lets just be glad he's matured and I hope the other guys will too. He really has no right to beef at all about the defense because it has been the defense that has carried this team for most if not all of his years. He wouldn't have his rings without them....I'm not trying to bash Ben but he needs to do a better job of controlling the things that he can. We have been hearing about this offenses potential for too many years now. I don't think he is being micromanaged at all I've seen his fair share of changed calls fail miserably as well. Neither he or Haley is above the criticism. Once again I know we need him and I really do appreciate all that he has sacrificed for this franchise. I respect the fact he's trying to be a leader ....I just think he's going about it the wrong way. He seems to be pouting about it instead of trying to instill confidence and support his guys like he should. You win and lose as a team....

Ben is trying to wake the entire team up to the fact that you can't waste opportunities as you never know when the next one will come around.

My Qbs for next year. Ben, EJ Manuel, and Mettenberger.
