Completely disagree. He IS the leader of this team! He's the one person who can say what needs to be said.

Whether you like him or not, Cowherd has been spot on the past few weeks about this team. Too many people on this board and elsewhere are completely oblivious to the signs this season. In November, Ben used the words "undisciplined" and "unaccountable" when asked a question by the press. He also said he didn't know if it was the players or coaches who weren't being held accountable.

After the AFC championship, he used the words "OUTCOACHED" and "OUTEXECUTED!"

Once again, WHERE THERE IS SMOKE, THERE IS FIRE! And the fire is growing!

His not retiring, that's pretty much saying make some changes or I will retire!. Maybe not a head coach change but maybe offense or defense.

That's exactly what he's saying, because the other hints he's tried to subtly drop throughout the season haven't reached the ears of the Rooneys. I'd damn well bet that this will catch their attention!

Please draft Pat Mahomes. He is the best QB in this class by a large margin

Ben has years ahead of him by the way.

Who knows the reason, some of us have speculated he has been playing hurt, I'd wager that is the leading factor for not committing.

Still think he plays his contract out. Dont see what the big deal is about him voicing retirement possibilities. Anything you're finding out now, his coaches, Rooneys and teammates knew first.

I also completely disagree. Some people are really going to be licking their chops over this, though.

If you think Ben is going to leave $20 million dollars on the table and not be the quarterback of a Superbowl caliber roster when he is still a top 5 QB, you need to explore critical thinking.

A retirement home, he wouldn't last a month in the AFC north. Look at him the wrong way and he'll end up with another separated shoulder. Burfict would destroy him.

Ben is fed up with the Zone D too, what's the point of making it this far into a season then basically throw in the towel playing Zone?

I think it's just a ploy.... to get AB re-signed...... Now if AB doesn't get a deal and Ben's hot targets are (anyone else on the roster)..... all bets are off.

I am so sick of people complaining so much about the coaching staff. Do you realize how successful Tomlin has been here? Take a look at the rest of the league, not even a handful of coaches are on Tomlins level. So please STFU with this crap.

I'd be surprised if he retired. But, the future is NOW when it comes to finding the heir apparent.

No intelligent people here are complaining about Tomlin. There are other coaches on the coaching staff outside of the head coach

AB is part of the problem. Why would Ben care about him getting paid and for a contract Ben won't even been there for?

This is like cheering on a senior beating up a freshmen. We saw elite coaching on Sunday. Spanked us with a lacrosse player playing WR. While we had the best WR and RB in the game. Tomlin is no where near Elite and deserves criticism that will hopefully push him to get better.

I was concerned when Ben asked Brady for his jersey and posted, "Why now?" Something about that just seemed odd to me after all the years Ben played against Brady. "Why now?" indeed.

I dunno... Ben and Heath Miller are very good friends. We don't know what they have talked about between themselves, but I have a feeling Heath's retirement affected Ben more than we know, and by that I mean more of the health and family aspects of it all.

I do think Ben will be around next season, but would not at all be surprised if he retires the following year.

I think there are plenty of "intelligent" people on this board who have complained about Tomlin. Tomlin is absolutely NOT above criticism, guys. I'm not on the FMTI bandwagon here but let's get real. My concern with Tomlin is that he's a checker player who gets played by chess players. We saw that on display on Sunday and we've seen it at other times throughout Tomlin's coaching career. His DC had EXACTLY the wrong gameplan against Brady and Tomlin failed to recognize that and overrule him as the HEAD COACH!

This is a great place to voice our concerns and criticisms about the coaches, players, front office, etc. if you don't want to see that, you might want to visit another site.

I doubt he actually goes ahead and retires but stranger things have happened. What I do think this should do is serve as a reminder that we have no one coming up behind Ben that is any way ready to step in.

I know we have a lot of needs in the upcoming draft and that more than likely we just concentrate on filling those, and while it might not be a popular opinion, I would not be against taking a QB high if there is one they like. Sit him behind Ben to learn and he will surely have some opportunities to get some game time with Ben and his injury history. Try to have a plan in place for when the time does come rather than have a year(or many)of utter awfulness to look forward to so we can get a new QB with a high pick. If not this draft, definitely next year.

Dont know how much it was in the news but the week of the Cowboys game, it was on the radio that Ben called a meeting with Tomlin. He was complaining about players not being serious, goofing off in practice, showing up late. When you have to call a meeting with the coach, to address basic issues, there is a problem.

Ben has enough money probably to never work again. If the coaches/players arent going to take it serious, why put your body at risk?

Colin Kaepernick isn't happy in San Fran and pretty much makes the same $$ as Ben, trade for him. He would be perfect for this offence.
