Ben wants so badly to have total control of the offense. He thinks he is Peyton Manning or at least wants to be considered like him. He wants to run no huddle where he is calling plays at the LoS.

That's all fine but good defenses can confuse him. He checks into bad plays, makes bad reads and then starts second guessing himself. He also outsmarts himself which isn't hard. You can tell it in his face he doesn't know what to call by the 4th Q.

He needs success early in games to stay ahead of defenses. If he gets that he does seem to get in a confident rhythm.

He's just not a cerebral guy. He's like the friend that tries to use big words but butchers them badly.

For what it's worth, earlier this season Green Bay fans were ready to run Rodgers out of town.

Ryan needs to win the Bowl then show he can win a playoff game on the road before he's even in the conversation

Ben inside the 30 last night was 6-15 for 9 yards and an interception. He needs to pull it together with a quickness.

Not researching stats, I'm sure NE is one of the top redzone defenses in the NFL.

Yeah, I read a lot of talk about our receiving corps. Then I watch these other games and think, who do we have? We have the best in the business and then who? Now, if Green wasn't concussed, Bryant wasn't suspended, Wheaton wasn't on IR, and Coates didn't have the hand injury. There's a chance our wr corps could stand up against these others. Having said all that, when Ben gets into a rhythm, he's awesome. Just look at the first half last week against the Dolphins. Had AB caught that touchdown, Ben and Brady's numbers wouldn't have been that much different.

I don't think it's the conversation that matters, it's who is playing the best right now. And we need Ben to play better than Brady next week and one of the other two after that.

I've never seen fans attack a franchise, HoF QB like this. He hasn't been as sharp as we've seen him, but WTF is wrong with some of you? We're blessed with one of the best QBs in the league. Look around the league at how many teams would KILL to have someone like Ben lead their team. Do you think the Texans would like Ben? Those of you down on Ben are going to be very sad in the near future when he walks away and we're left with....what?

Ben really didn't play well vs the Chiefs. In all likely hood the Pats are going to score at least 21+ points. If good Ben doesn't show up vs the Pats the Steelers will probably lose. The Steelers defense will need to stop the run and put pressure on Brady to stand a chance to limit Pats scoring opportunities.

Ben hasn't played at the level of Ryan, Rodgers, or Brady this season.

If I'm the Pats, I come out full force with a gameplan to stop Bell. Bell is the "anti-Brady" this team needs. Look the slow methodical drive which ends in 7 (and it will need to be 7 this week, not 3), keeps Brady on the sidelines and in position to lose. If you look at what Houston did in the first half....the controlled the ball. They lost because their offense stinks, but they had the ball for so long that Brady didn't really put up points until the 2nd half when Houston was throwing to try to get back in the game.

I agree with this, and here is the way to look at this of the 4 qb's who would you want under center Sunday? The only one I would consider is Rodger, yeah Brady is damn good but put him in this offense. Put him there with your starting TE gone(like Gronk) and your #2-3-4-5 WR's gone. Sorry I know Brady keeps on going without a true #1 WR but every time one goes down they don't bring up a guy from the practice squad like Ben has had to do this year. They go out and get some troubled WR from another team who has experience. Has Ben played great heck no I have been pretty hard on him but I am gonna stick up for him cause look what he has had to work with this year. Bell gone the first 3 weeks, Bryant suspended for the year, Wheaton, DHB and Green hurt most of the year and guys like Hamilton and Ayers coming off the practice squad to fill in nicely but inexperienced.

I said this in another thread but I lived thru the Malone-Brister and that other guy(nameless) that I will not speak of and I remember how bad it was when we had a killer D every year and struggled to go anywhere. We will live and die with BB I just hope we live this week........

    From PFF:

It’s not that Roethlisberger has just been consistently worse, it’s that his season has been a series of inconsistent swings. He has seven games this season with a grade of 80.0 or higher, but four games with a grade under 50.0, including one mark of 31.4, and one more at 51.6.

... [The Steelers] are a team that suddenly looks very hard to find a weakness on, but all of a sudden, they have a QB capable of losing them the game with poor decisions and costly turnovers.

There aren't any big gaps among the 4 QBs. Or the offenses either, I'd say. But the defenses yes, NE 1, PIT 2, ATL 3, GB 4. Drop off from 2-3 and more from 3-4.

As others have indicated, Ben is really working with a very limited receiver and TE corps. We all know AB is one of the best. But it was supposed to be Wheaton, Bryant, a healthy Coates at WR and Green at TE. What they have to put on the field now isn't even close to that. They have a collection of players that either can't catch the ball, can't get separation or are too inexperienced to run the correct routes. Just my opinion, but I think the Steelers WR and TE corps in the playoffs is #4, which translates to Ben being #4 in this group.

Exactly. This is "what is wrong with some of us". Doesn't mean we don't like, want or appreciate Ben. We just want him to play like a pro all the time.

If your QB is a weakness on your team, you have a problem. If he is a strength than we are good. Ben is clearly very inconsistent. One day Elite. One day back up material.

This is a big part of why the no huddle disappeared. They don't know what to do when it's run. No huddle only works if everyone is on the same page.
