Yes exactly, take the Giant game where they have Collins and Green was averaging 18-20 yards per play. This is very important with the safeties and LB's the Chiefs have and will open up the under for guys like Ab, Bell and JJ should they go 2 TE set. This is something that people don't think about id Green is out there you have a guy who can stretch the field and open things up and make other better. I am telling you I feel this is what the Steelers were thinking and why he didn't play last week. I hope he is back and we see 2 TE sets and both have good days.....and the Steelers move of to the next round!

It's really not a question of whether he's needed or not. It's the simple fact that our playbook is more dangerous with him, than without him.

With Green, we are able to use a TE to consistently stretch the field, keep safeties out of the box, and make a defense choose it's poison (if you put a non-LBer on Green, you create mismatches with LBers underneath for Rogers/Ayers/Bell to exploit in our short passing game). If you put the onus on your Mike LBer to carry Green down field, that's a matchup we should be able to exploit.

Green isn't critical to our offense, we've proven to be very dangerous regardless of which weapon we are missing on a given Sunday. But there is no doubt that we are a more dangerous team, with more options, and a better ability to create mismatches with Green.

If we could only wrap a pillow around his helmet, he would be d-y-n-o-m-i-t-e on the field....

Tomlin said today that Green is still in the concussion protocol and has been throughout. Also said he had a setback technically speaking.

i think grimble could make a difference in this area against KC. he could be a better mismatch than james down the seam to take some pressure off. it could even open up james underneath. we have weapons and could exploit them various ways. if they use said weapons is another story but i think we have them even without green in there this week. it will be up to todd and ben to figure it out.

I believe the long run is Green retiring. The head injuries are just stacking up too fast.

Wow, looks like he may miss yet another game. A month? With THAT relatively tame hit as NFL hits go? To use some Appalachian vernacular, that boy ain't right.

I dont think it was tame, I remember I was impressed he held onto the ball.

Was it Bud Dupree wrecking Moore, no, but I think tame is scaling it down a bit too much.

Yeah, but, a month? There are some serious issues going on with his brain, apparently. Not sure he doesn't need to take his money and run.

    @TerribleTowelFlying
Can you post a gif of the hit?

Where did you get your Tomlin avatar? It looks like he just finished 12 Green Miles. Even looks a bit like Michael Clarke Duncan (RIP).

43 took worse shots and played in the next game. He is a froufrou.

Then he should get smart and quit football while he still knows who he is.

Or he been though enough of these exams that he knows the correct answers to stay in the protocol and collect the Steelers money without having to earn it.

Definitely looking that way. Im sure they are discussing all that right now, risk reward and all that.

43 missed his fair share of games. Don't think Id use him as an example of an ironman.

I think he is done, like career wise. I don't blame him at all, life sucks sometimes.

Helmet-to-helmet from Iloka. Green had the ball, had turned, and had a slice of time to see the hit coming and brace. Close in time to being defenseless, though.
