I went to see this last night at the O' Reilly Theatre in Pittsburgh. It is one man play about Rocky Bleir's life and is written by Gene Collier who also wrote "The Chief". It was exceptionally good, insightful and very funny. And, it is performed by Rocky Bleier. Tonight is the last night, but if there are still seats available, I highly recommend it.

I'm sure it's better than the 80s made for TV movie about his life starring Robert Urich as Rocky and Art Carney as the Chief.

Actually, it made me want to see that movie again. I'm probably better off with the poor memory thinking it was good.

Let's just say the football scenes were less than realistic, lol. Decent movie otherwise though, IIRC.

And by the way, the full movie is on YouTube.

I know about that movie but I've never seen it. I figure it has all the production value of a Murder She Wrote episode but his story is unreal though. He was actually up in Bristol a year or so ago giving a speech and a cowgirls fan I work with told me about it too late or I would have definitely have tried to go and meet him. Bristol is only about 2 hours away from me. It's probably actually closer to you.

Wow! I didn't realize he was in Bristol. My son lives there and it's only about an hour from where I live. I would love to hear Bleier speak and may have gone had I known.

Just rewatched the movie on YouTube. It was actually better than I remember. There are many Steelers in the movie. It's like watching a VHS tape from 1980 so the quality is lacking, but there is some cool original NBC footage at the end of the movie of Bleier's last game against the Chiefs.

Like the GEICO lizard, I've been in both states at once, lol. If you ever go, make sure you visit Blackbird Bakery.

It's been about 12 years since I've been to Bristol. The reason I remember it so well is because we took my wife's little brother to a wrestling tournament there when he was a kid and he got second and came up really proud and said "I GOT SECOND!" and I said "Well then you're the first loser...". Man my wife got mad! LOL! She STILL tells people that I did that to her little brother and he actually went on to get a track scholarship at TN Wesleyan University and I was only saying it in jest but my wife acts like I was the devil or something. LOL!
