We beat the Chiefs in week 4. I was talking about the 7 game win streak and the 4 game losing streak. That was easily our best win of the season, I agree. Giants win was also a damn good one.

Tell your self what you want about the Bengals. They suck with a capital S. They won 6 games. 2 against the Browns. 1 against a Ravens team that quit. 1 against the Dolphins. The other 2 wins against the Jets and Eagles. SO they managed 1 quality win against the Dolphins in week 4. Not sure what happened in that game but Ajayi only had 6 carries.

Yes agree momentum is huge. Winning 7 straight is awesome. We just managed to do it about as ugly as you could and we had a very nice schedule that allowed us to play sloppy and still win. Look at what good teams do to teams like the Bengals... the patriots destroyed them 35-17, the cowboys also kicked their ass. Patriots also kicked the crap out of the Ravens and Browns. I guess I disagree, style points do matter.

We've got a chance to win it all, yes I'm well aware. Talent wise I think we could be the best team in the AFC. Just saying our play has not been the best in the AFC. It's been about as inconsistent as any team I've ever seen. I hope and pray we come together and kick some ass now. If I'm a betting man, I wouldn't be putting my money on our steelers. I really believe winning a SB with a bad run defense is nearly asking for the impossible. You need an amazing offense to pull that out. Our offense has the potential to be awesome, just hasn't lived up to the talent on the field.

Cinci was snake bit with injuries this season like we have been the last two. Loosing Bernard and Green for that stretch really hurt them, they also were without burfict to start the season. Our offense is awesome when Bell, Brown, and Ben are on the field. To say we merely have potential is kind of silly

Yup. We mailed it in against Miami and Philly, so those two were the most disappointing as far as effort goes. The defense let us down against the Cowchips. The loss against NE does not count. The Ratbirds loss was Ben not ready to come back.

Another other way to look at it is the same way we lost to the Cowchips was similar to the way we won against the Ratbirds. Just one play changed would change the outcome.

I think WHEN you play an opponent, which is when luck counts, has a lot to do with your final win-loss record. We were lucky when we played the Giants and Chiefs IMO because they were off. We were very unlucky when we played the Patsies because Ben was out and the Patsies looked very beatable that game. We were unlucky when we played Miami because they were in a must win situation to save their season and it turns out they are a pretty good team.

My main concern with Miami was how easily they got pressure on Ben. If you see Ben under pressure again, which almost no team seems to be able to do with our O-line, then we have a fundamental mismatch against their D-line which would mean we better be planning on quick passes and misdirection run plays. I do not think we game plan for our O-line not being dominant. If we see pressure on Ben again, it will be a difficult game. I hope after what happened last time we will make changes.

Mike Tomlin doesn't walk past "style point trophies" on the way to his office.

I agree, we will clean it up going forward. Granted there are no easy games, lets just take
them one game at a time and we will be alright. Go STEELERS.

    .

This is why KC scares me, they have a dominant D-line. But Miami's line is no slouch either. Is Mario Williams playing?

edit: found that Williams was benched for week 17. May or may not play i guess??

Yeah right give a 33 year old LB 5m a year , he has been dealing with injuries the last few seasons and hasn't been as productive.

The Steelers didn't have any problems moving the ball against the Giants, they will get smoked by Green Bay.

Assuming we win and move on to KC, KC will be motivated to revenge that beat down we put on em here in pitt, you know that will be pounded into their heads by andy reid, so we have that to contend with, but we did it once so we can do it again, though KC is a totally different team now than the kc we beat, and it's highly unlikely we hang 43 points on them again...

One point to be made about how you win...It really doesn't matter to the team you beat or your team so much...The way you win effects your future opponents ...That is the key ...Coaches see things on tape and as humans they develop some fears and as such they do react to those fears in practice ...This is part of the chest game ,show things they need to prepare for and then have wrinkles ready for those plays ..

Mike T always talks about imposing our will well that means playing crisp smart football and chocking the life out of teams when you get up on them ...I would like to see them impose their will on Miami this week and get the Chiefs and the Pats to thinking....Their Coaches and players should be worried about how can they ever stop the powerful Offense ...Who knows maybe that gets NE looking ahead and they slip up against Houston ?

For sure, and Buffalo had 11 more sacks on the year than KC although Justin Houston missed 11 games this year. Stat wise on the year Buffalo may be better but KCs d line gives me the most concern.

    They got their asses kicked?

They were close in the Patriots game without Ben.

The Ravens game was close as well.

Cowboys they went toe-to-toe with down to the last drive of the game.

The only one they looked like a bad team against was the Dolphins in a crazy hot game without many defensive starters and one where the Home team was subbing Offensive linemen out due to the heat!

I was just curious because I'm also close to 5 hours away. Slightly more here in northern Indiana.

Nicely put Sir. And I still think you could have been the lead float in the Rose Parade sporting your brand new amazing Steeler sweater - especially since the parade theme was "Echoes of Success!" Who has had more repeat (echo) success than our very own Steelers?

You post reminds me of a cute story.

Back in the glory days of cinema a little boy and little girl went to the Saturday afternoon matinee to see a John Wayne flick and at the end after the Duke ran off all the bad guys he turns to the young maiden he had just saved and says: "Listen little lady - I want - what I want - when I want it!" And the young maiden swoons into his open arms and he pulls her up onto his horse and they ride off into the sunset together as the movie ends.

So as the little boy and little girl are walking on home after the movie, the little boy still all impressed with the Dukes manly charms, suddenly turns the little girl towards him by the shoulder and says to her: "Listen little lady - I want - what I want - when I want it!" The little girl pushes him away and says sternly: "No - you listen to me buster - you'll get what I got when I get it!" ;)

The only actually close game was against the Cowboys.

The patriots game was close early in the 3rd quarter. After that they took a 27-16 lead in the 4th Q and went conservative. If NE didn't fumble that punt it was a blow out. We managed 22 yards of offense in the 4th quarter when we needed 2 scores. NE went conservative and punted the ball with 3 min left and shut us down. The game was over after 3quarters. I call that an ass kicking. It could have been worse if NE doesn't fumble on a punt return. Would Ben have fared better? Who knows because you can bet NE would have also played a different game plan. Obviously having your QB hurts big time but good teams can still deal with it. I think NE proved that.

The first Ravens game was also not close. They shut us out for 3 quarters. It was 21-0 in the 4th quarter. We didn't score until they went into a prevent and played turtle ball. The Ravens are not good in case you didn't get the memo. That's why they let it turn into a game late in the 4th.

Really you are going to credit the Dolphins ass kicking with hot weather? ok

Spin it how you want, but just as you can say "If they don't fumble" you can say "If the Steelers do X"

For the Dolphins game: 80 degrees and humidity from prior rain showers. I lived in Jacksonville and went to several games there and just prior to half-time there'd be some showers. Right after the half it'd be unbearable and you'd see people in the stands that couldn't take it. To say weather doesn't affect a game is kind of untrue.

    Out

    • Marcus Gilbert, OT – Ankle
    • Cameron Heyward, DE – Hamstring
    • Shamarko Thomas, S – Groin
    • Cody Wallace, C – Knee
    • Markus Wheaton, WR – Shoulder
    • Ryan Shazier, LB – Knee

The Steelers went 5-1 in the division, division games are tough you aren't going to blow those teams out on a regular basis. Winning by style points don't mean :poopy:, all that matters is you win. The Steelers will struggle to put some teams away that's what happens when you start 3 rookies on defense, and you have injured players like Hewward on IR.
