I know we have some space with the 40ish mil (with AB on the books already). We should have plenty to get AB his 16-17 mil, Bell his 12-14mil, and Tuitt a 10mil a year deal that still leaves about 15 million for rookies and a couple other signings. That gives us the money to keep guys like Cockrell, Villanueva, Boz and maybe a few smaller end guys like Grimble, Hamilton and Landry

I just think that Landry is going to be considerably better than what we get with Mettenberger. I know he played for the Titans but he never won a game as a starter. Landry has already won a couple in his limited starting action. He hasn't been completely awful in the losses either. I'm sure they'll try like hell to sign him but if the money doesn't work then it doesn't work and we will find something else. I hope it does tho. We spent time and effort making this kid a quality back up, it would suck to have to start over with someone else or try to get lucky in FA and find someone that could do a similar job for a lesser price.

JONES BEATS THE BLITZ FOR THE WIN
Landry Jones' game-winning throw to Cobi Hamilton in OT was his second career TD pass against five or more pass rushers. Jones now has as many TD passes to WRs when facing the blitz in 2016 as Ben Roethlisberger (one). (ESPN Stats & Info)

The problem is they blitzed him the entire game, he failed to get into the correct play most of the time ...LJ also missed multiple 1 on 1 shots all of our WR'S got open the entire game ...The reason the running game got stuffed so bad was the Browns dared LJ to throw and he finally made a good throw....

He is a average QB at best he has been in the NFL long enough that he should be better than he is ....No Team will see him as a Starter or as Starter capable..I think the Steelers can do much better....

I guess management will reason, "well even Ben plays lousy for a while after not playing for weeks", so after seeing something that resembled a NFL QB yesterday after a slow start, I bet we will stick with Landry. The mindset is like buying a bad stock and after a big loss it has a few up days and you decide to wait, but really it`s your ego not willing to let you admit you made a mistake.

We have seen enough of Landry over the years to know he is not NFL quality and it was a mistake to draft him.

We should not offer him much and nobody else would be interested. I wish we could instead get a vet QB willing to be a backup.

Don't think we should break the bank for him, but he is a viable backup. If somebody wants to overpay him and give him a shot at starting, let him go.

I am not an expert on the cap but I am worried, we have almost 42 mil of space but we only have 39 players signed for next year. We have 27 guys on this team that are a FA/RFA/ERFA which will eat into that 42 mil pretty fast. Now I know we won't sign all our guys but we will sign someone and that is why I am so against the Jones getting more the 1.75 a year.

Now as for the difference between LJ and ZM we don't know but my opinion is they have to be pretty close. Yeah ZM didn't win a game as a starter but what is important is how much experience he got as a starter. What I am saying is I would rather gamble with ZM making pretty much nothing and hope like hell Ben don't go down then to spend a lot on LJ and not be able to pay a guy we can use like JH. jmo

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I think everyone on that list is as good as LJ ,,most on that list could be better with good OL play and a good running game and a good set of WR'S ...Not to mention a good OC .....The guy I like the most on that list is Geno he may be a real NFL CB ...

Yeah maybe but Geno made 1.254 mil last year...Cassel 2 mil, Hoyer 2 mil, Sanchez 2 mil, Hill 3.25 mil Keenum 3.635 mil.......Landry Jones 650K. Same results if not better and for less money. My point all along I don't want to waste valuable cap space on the back up qb when we can get the same results for cheaper, and I feel that is ZM at 690K. jmo I will tell ya what the guy on this list I like is Ryan Nassib. I watched him at Cuse and while he isn't a well known name I feel he could be every bit as good and probably better then what we have seen in Jones these last 4 years.

That little amount of cap space won't stop Colbert from signing anyone, Khan could secure that much cap space while sleep walking if he needed too.

    As for Geno..... :roflmao:

Are we giving up on Mettenberger as our #2 QB? I'm assuming he's still a good option for our #2. Which means we should be spending a late pick on a QB. Assuming no one on earth will sign LJ we can also offer him a 1 or 2 year deal and let him battle it out with Zach and the rookie we draft.

Knowing our enemies I suspect LJ will be in the Patriots camp next off season so they can update their play signal stealing code book.
